My interpretation of the whole deal isn't that he hates non-scale items. But he has made it perfectly clear his dislike for MJ's stuff is more connected to the fact that they say it's 1:18th scale stuff and it's simply not.

I for one, can get behind that. If I'm told that something I'm buying is 1:18th scale, and upon receipt I find out it's oversized.. I'd be put off, too.

Like I said in my post, I totally understand where Obi is coming from. I've been a finescale modeler myself (with a couple of IPMS trophies under my belt).
But singling Marauder out in his sig and his user title just seems spiteful and unnecessary to me.
I'm not sticking up for MJ here - I've been unhappy with some of his products as well, but I've gotten over it.

This is not an attack on Obi but, with respect, maybe he should just deal with it and move on.

That was such a debacle. It kind of sealed the deal for my move over here. Sorry guys. :proposetoast:

(A little slow on the post - referring to the epic MJ series 6 scale debate that GI Guppy was talking about.)

I'm sure he can speak for himself, but what I witnessed had little to do with that as much as being attacked for having a different opinion.

Keep in mind when wave 6 came out, his negative opinion was confined to the customs section until it got merged into the middle of the Marauderlot's Knights of the Round.

Yeah, but you're talking about HT, where that kind of BS is a daily occurrence. It's no longer a surprise when mods pull that kind of shit.

No, I know he can speak for himself. Just giving my interpretation of what I saw happening, since some of what I'm reading seems to suggest that he's just hating for no reason other than to hate.

And the point made of the age old adage of: Can't say something nice, don't say anything at all, really only implies to how you would treat another person in day to day life.

eg. "Those pants make your ass look fat, and you shouldn't disgust us with your fat ass." does not equal "How the hell are you trying to sell this shit as 1:18 scale when it is clearly not?"

If someone tries to sell something that's misrepresented, they should know. And personally, I think that anyone who takes up arms in the defense of someone clearly misrepresenting product, when they're not part of the equation, should shut the fuck up.

Personally, I don't care who supports MJ, and I don't care who wants to waste their money(to me, it's a waste.) You want to outfit your troops with whatever, be my guest. I'll use Falcone's, Giga's, and TJ's weapons.

My 2 cents. Make of it what you will.

I understand and respect all your opinions on the matter. If my words or my intent have been misinterpreted, then I'm sorry but that's not my problem.

I've said what I wanted to say, and that's the end of my input regarding this.

At the end of the day, we're all just grown men playing with toys.

Everyone has a hot button topic that creates unusual responses. Mine is people acting like Shockwave not being Shockwave if he doesn't have a ski mask on under his hat. That got pretty heated unnecessarily.

Why do I have this feeling like I'm being 'tanked all over again.

Giga has it correct. It's the point that my opinion of a product based on mathematical facts was bitch-slapped by a bunch of collector punks-asses who's opinions actually matter - evidently.

My sig and title are merely stabs at any of those shit-tards that might read it.

And for the record, I've said many times that I like MJ's product for what it is, but will no longer back (buy) something that doesn't work for my needs. If everyone can comment on how much they like it, guess what? Yep... I will comment on how much I don't like it.

Get over it, and move on you say? It's important to me, so no thank you.

Don't like my comments, attitude, methods, etc? Follow along - I. Don't. Give. A. Shit.

And I'm getting pissed writing this, so...

No need to defend yourself so vehemently here, Obi. This isn't the Tank. No one is attacking you, least of all me. I was merely stating my opinion, as you have stated yours.
I hope no one imparted a malicious tone to my earlier words, because they carried none to begin with.

As I said, I totally understand your point of view (I've been in a similar situation before, on a car forum), and I (like many others) consider you an asset to the Joe community.

I like bacon. In a toasted sandwich with melted cheese. Oh, and an egg. Can't forget the egg. One that's just cooked enough so the yolk is thick like gravy. Not runny. I hate runny eggs. And beetroot. I don't know why Aussies think beetroot is good in sadwiches. It's disgusting. :)

F Sam's club....Costco has better food.

Making homemade pumpkin pie from the pumpkin is a huge pain in the ass...much easier to buy the canned pumpkin and throw it in the pie crust.

I got the bright idea to ask my mom to help me turn my pumpkin into a pie one year...she said if we're doing this, you can't backout once we get started...I figured how hard could it be. yeah not fun and wasn't as good as the canned stuff.

And I like a little pie with my RediWhip...in fact rediwhip is good on poon tang pie now that I think about it.

I bought a Costco apple pie once. The thing was nearly 20 inches across. I split it with some friends and after a week we still had some left over.

It was awesome though, especially with ice cream on top. Just heavenly.

Sorry guys. It was nothing personal to anyone here, just general ramblings to explain my position since it was suggested that I'm "hating just to hate".

And I prefer BBQ ribs. Mmmmmm...

By the way. I took Obi's frustration about the same way Giga said. My opinion on it - Its not the products he is upset about, just the fact that they are misrepresented scale wise. I personally think it is a legit gripe. One that not everyone will have but i see no reason for the way he was treated over at HT over it. He stated a fact (one cannot deny math...ever) about scale than gave an opinion and got bashed for it. I would be mad as well. i for one am happy i now know what is and what isnt scale of MJ's products. I have little knowlegde of weapons so having people like Obi and Giga break it down saves me alot of learning time and that is MUCH appreciated!!

Thanks, Medd. Not to drag this out too much more...

I see myself as an artist, working in the media of 1/18 figs. As such, I strive to do the best that I can with my creations, and the details are VERY important to me. What's the sense in creating realistic characters, only to throw off the realism by using incorrect accessories? Why do you think I've gone to the extremes to make accurate scaled weapons of any kind? I certainly don't use factory weapons with 99% of my Ninja/Samurai customs, because they suck compared to what I can make. Therefore, I will do/attempt the same for any military customs.

So yes, I want accessories/weapons that are correct for the scale. Or at least damn close.

Again, this is a mentality that many others don't share, and that's fine by me. I'd never tell anyone what to do, or what to use with their figs - that's stupid.

BBQ pulled pork...

since we are asking. I wouldnt mind a tutorial (hint hint) on building custom swords. Like where does one begin. Are you modding existing? are you making from styrene? If from styrene, how do you keep the blade straight when making the edge. I tried a scratch build. My sword was not horrible, but the blade definately looked like a midevil broad sword that was taken into 10 too many battles.

greasy boardwalk pizza. The type when you are done eating your face has soo much grease it feels like you just came up from a 1 hour muff dive session.

I second this (pretty sure he had a tut at the HT). I'd assume a straight edge and a SHARP x-acto are required. I'm more interested in the tsuka and that end of the sword.

I was thinking just sculpt the handguard and pommel on a closed fist hand sculpt and then a styrene blade.

I just don't have a donor hand at the moment.

Fans of Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels will know that Vegemite was actually the accidental invention of the wizard Rincewind during his time spent on The Last Continent. :)

And, for the record, I can't stand the stuff. It's like cooked-down axle grease with extra salt.
Although Kraft also sell a concoction called "Cheesybite" which is a blend of cream cheese and Vegemite, and it's pretty damn good.
