A staple of most heterosexual boys' toy boxes in the first half of the '80s.

Mattel fucked the brand over at retail so now you can't get the great retro line unless you sacrifice a college-age virgin, 3 small children and a half dozen kittens, then take it up the ass without lube.

Bitter, much?

Dude, you always make me laugh!

Yeah, the distribution of these figures is terrible, and I hate being forced to use that bottleneck, POS website Matty to get the latest stuff.

I am looking forward to trying to get King Hsss in about 5 minutes.

However, he is back online again right now and I just ordered 1!

I ordered Bow and Shadow Beast in Jan... and they still haven't shown up. I've called them a half-dozen times spending several hours on the phone in total, and each person assures me that the problem is solved. Basically, when I placed the order, their system ate my shipping and billing addresses. Thus the order was placed, but they didn't know what to do with it. It's not like I could have placed an order without giving them all that info.

Digital River is the most incompetent bunch of ass clowns that ever walked the earth. I finally gave up and swore I'd never order from them again. They have broken my habit. I might get an occasional figure from BBTS, but I'm done playing their monthly game when I do everything right and they still don't send me the shit I ordered. Even my love of MOTU is not worth this. They can go pound sand.

Well, homey, like we said before, they should be counting the number of IP addresses that hit the website during their "release times" to verify and add to the production numbers for the following months.

That makes sense to me, anyway!

Here is the line-up slated through September 2011:

2011 Release Schedule

April – Sy-Klone, Panthor, Weapons Rack
May – Catra, She-Ra Reissue
June – Faceless One, Battleground Teela
July – Clawful
August – Man-E-Faces, Megator
September – Leech, Hurricane Hordak

Clawful and Man-E-Faces were definitely among my favorites as a kid.

Today was the big sale on Sy-Clone and Panthor. I completely forgot about it being the 15th until two and a half hours after the sale started. Normally that would be about two hours and twenty minutes too late, but for some reason, I was still able to order both.

And as an update to my above posts, I finally solved my order problem from Feb. After seven calls and about 3-4 hours total on the phone with the folks in Bangalore, I scoured he-man.org and found a special number that gets you directly to an intelligent english-speaking person with the power to solve problems. He immediately apologized for the issue and issued a new order for the two figures, free of charge. I kid you not. That's nearly $70 after tax and shipping.

I was floored. He didn't put me on hold. He didn't have to confer with "managers". He didn't try to make me think it was my fault. He didn't read from a script. He just solved the damn problem and left me with a smile. I'm normally pretty quick to jump on mattel because of past experiences, so I wanted to be fair and point out that they really treated me right... once I got the magic phone number. Of course, I shouldn't have had to waste all that time before talking to indian girls reading scripts, but I will say that I finally found someone to step up and fix the issue with class.

Yep. Panthor lasted about 3 hours... which is a looooooooong time compared to Battlecat's 17 minutes :)

Eddie, if you want a real english-speaking person in mattycollector customer service, call 877-229-3743. The person I spoke to solved my problem in seconds whereas literally hours on the phone with India yielded nothing. Go figure.

i already had He-Man, Moss-Man and Roboto...and i was holding off pretty good...but lack of Joe product and the fact that i've caught up on the DCUC i really wanted, plus watching MOTU and the Avengers toon, has made it increasingly difficult to stay out other lines...lately i've gotten sucked into Marvel Universe too...makes me feel like a kid...i see them on TV and MUST have them

you guys got any pics of your MOTU collections?

welcome to the addiction that can only be compared to drug use.

So true. It's addictive. It's painful. It's expensive. You can only get this stuff from one dealer. And when you get your fix, it's full of glorious 4-Horsemen-sculpted euphoria, and you're glad you did it. Until matty pulls one from their bottomless bag of stupidity-induced gut punches. Then you hate them to the core of your soul... until next month.

Eddie, I don't have any picks because I haven't opened them. Not that I'm planning to keep them that way, but I want my son to open them when he acquires an interest, likely in a few years.

Funny thing is, my daughter (who is younger) is really more into action figures than my son. I get all the she-ra related ones for her, but she may well end up with more of them.

[Forgive the rant, this is one of my hot-button topics] Toy collecting is nigh-impossible for a kid these days. They can't possibly get an allowance that would let them get anything but a small fraction of a particular line. Then by the time they save up for something (read: three weeks) it's already out of stores and replaced by the next wave or another line altogether. A kid who saves up or patiently waits until a gift-giving occasion is destined to have a collection of nothing but peg-warmers.

When we were kids, if I wanted to buy a Joe, TF, MOTU figure... I had a window of opportunity of at least a year or two worth of birthdays, x-mas', and allowances to get something I really wanted. Now it's a week or two for the more popular items, if they ever hit retail at all. Our kids are growing up amidst a flood of great toys, most of which they'll never see in stores or afford. As a kid who collected a lot of toys in the 80's, this makes me particularly sad.

Thus I buy a crapload of toys in most of the lines I loved as a kid, and just stockpile them. If it turns out that neither of my kids likes a particular line, I'll just hang onto the stash long enough that they become rare and them sell them MOC. If my kids do like them, I'll cover them up at every occasion, spoil them rotten, and never have to worry about shopping for x-mas and birthdays for about a decade :) Either way, I can't see much downside except how much I tend to spend these days. But my kids only get one childhood. While I recognize that there are more important things in the world than plastic play things, I don't want their toy-joy to be stunted by shortpacked this, and online-only that.

yer not kidding man...we tend to blame videeo games as the reason kids aren't into toys...but like you said, its distrobusion that seems to be the problem for not only them, but us too...then, even when they are at retail, they only have a choice between 16 different versions of the same character...

its good you do that for them, because that really was glorious for us growing up...we were able to have a very diverse collection of whatever line we were into...i could ask for say, Fisto in July and by December when my birthday rolled around, he'd still be on shelves for my parents to pic up for me...

ahhh, the good ole days...

Exactly. I recall saving up for a couple of months to buy Jetfire at the little overstock store in my town. And I remember buying He-Man, Beastman, and the WindRaider with money I made at a garage sale. I made $27... which was a small fortune to a seven year old in the early 80's... If it had been like now, I'd have had no choices but peg after peg full of Stinkor!
