I am willing to pay up to 400 dollars for one, but it has to be painted and basically ready to go out of the box.

I have two left hands when it comes to paint, so I cannot commit to unpainted work.

Looking forward to the first production around mid-March, PH.

The plotting / planning stage of the A -10 project has started .

The printer has asked me what part do I want first.

I recommended the cockpit .

For those guys who are actually going to get this kit what part would you want to see first ?

Kickstarter would have been an awesome idea for this. Kickstarter doesn't get people the product, it helps them fund the project so they can buy the product in the future. Set a goal of $5000, to get it started, that way you don't have to pass it on to the buyers. People donate and then you can have it in the $200-300 range.

Set little silly goals, $10 gets you a thank you on the blog(no limit)... $25 gets you a silly decal/sticker of an A-10(no limit)... then the better goals... $50 donation gets you a Decal and a mini cast resin A-10(no limit)... $100 gets you a Tshirt with the project on it, a decal and a mini a-10(limit of 10)... $250 gets you your name on the decal sheet for the pilots name, the whole decal sheet, Tshirt and a mini-A-10(limit of 5)... $500 gets the first pulled kits that are numbered, the name on the decal sheet, shirt and mini A-10(limit 3)... $1000 gets you a fully built kit, name and decal sheet, mini A-10 and Shirt(limit 2).

With it done that way, people have a way of investing and funding the project, they get a little something in return to make them feel like they were part of it, a couple people with deep pockets get actual kits, etc... You'd want to set your price higher than the price you want/need, as kickstarter/amazon gets a cut of the final price... I forget the amount.

It also gives you a chance to have a breathing room incase prices for certain things go up.

Sorry if you knew all that, I started responding and then saw that it was a thread from over a year ago when you said you didn't know what kickstarter was, then saw there were 5 pages of stuff, lol. But still, would be something to look into.

Here's a good example of a game a local guy made:

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1243534184/tasnia?ref=home_location

It was fully funded in 8 days, lol. You can also have stretch goals added, so anything over the goal amount, you can pass onto the people funding it, in extra tidbits, parts, shirts, upgraded pieces that you thought you might not be able to afford originally, etc.

Anyway, this seems like a cool project, just nothing I'd ever be able to afford.

Indiegogo is another great site to look into as well. Unlike Kick Starter any funds generated during a campaign is automatcally yours even if you don't reach your initial goal. At least thats what I've can remember off the top of my head.

Would love to see what the cockpit looks like.

Would also love to see the missile/bomb/ordnance racks and projectiles.

Thanks again for looking into this.

Only way I see this project stopping is if one of the big manufacturers announces a 1/18 A-10 and shows more commitment to making it happen than a bunch of empty statements in a post.....:)

Here are a few images of the computer model being looked at to produce the 1/18 A-10. There are some minor fixes already noted to be done with the nose gear bay area and the refueling receptacle door will be closed. If anyone sees anything else of note that looks out if place, please let me know so that i can pass it along and we get the best out of this. Hopefully there will be some parts in hand soon to really look at...:)

And I have to paint it and put it together...not eager to f up something so pricey...I get the cost though, not complaining about that...it is nice that there is at least an option for a true 1:18th hog

I know the pricing isn't what collectors want nor do many want to have to put one together, but unfortunately this is probably going to be the only shot anyone will have at getting a 1/18 scale A-10 in their collection. If the ability to produce one in mass this way could be done, I'm sure the price could come down more.

Sucks that the manufacturers won't listen to what collector's want......:slap:

For those that interested, just went through a session of breaking some of the parts down for printing. Very tedious process.....:)

Hope to have some test parts to show off soon and see if the quality is going to be worth it. Keep your fingers crossed....

Man how I wish this was a JSI or similar company release...just so it'd be a bit cheaper and it'd come painted and assembled...

Maybe we need to start a "Buy Eddie the Pickelhaube A-10 Kit" drive.

Not for Eddie, mind you. It's so his dime piece of a beard doesn't have to lay awake at night listening to Eddie's sobbing. :D

There's a model I would buy even it required shelling out some big doe! But it would have to have lots of features and of course have great quality and lots of detail! This would be super as a kit as well!

Well I tell you guys .

Everyone is busy right now. Myself included.

The A-10 is in the works and the development is progressing.

We have had several conference calls ( me, the financier and the 3/d printer guy ) and hopefully just hopefully we may have something to show in the near future.

The hardest thing about these resin kits are the sanding and prepping for paint.

But once the primer paint goes on it is just like a regular ( BIG ) model.

Depending on what paint scheme you want the A-10 can be painted in gray over all so that is not an issue.

The decals in general will be small and hopefully they will be easy to apply.

I try to make my resin kits as simple as possible with the smallest amount of parts.

The more parts the more moulds I have to make.

So by that fact alone I HAVE to simplify the pours.

We will not be skimping on details but just trying to keep the count down.

A comparable injection molded kit will have over 300 parts and I am guessing the A-10 kit will have around 100 parts give or take.

Hey Guys,

Another year has almost passed and no real news on the A-10.

As stated before we have had several conference calls and final details have been worked out and nothing to show for it .

My printer guys has been on the road for a solid year and has just not had the time to push things through.

He has offered to send back the money to my financier but he ( financier ) wants to keep the money where it is.

We really wanted something to show on this project but time and the economy has shot that idea down.

I hope there will be good news but wishful thinking does not make a project.

Hopefully next year.
