Forums should be (more or less) back to normal.
After about 30 support tickets they finally said "we noticed the database server was very busy" well no shit. They waived their magic wand or whatever and things seem to have stabilized.
We'll see how long this lasts!

I'm guessing that with all the changes and downtime and everything, that it needed time for new settings and all to propagate correctly. If anyone else has issues, clear your cache/refresh and hopefully that will help.
