so anyway... this non contest entry has changed a bit..dumped th bonville for a harley and just used n ARW bod for postman dan..
I envisioned a world where due to resource scarcity telecommunications are a luxury onlybth elite can afford. ..
the special postal service was set up as a necessity with little or no resource..scavenging museums and wastelands they put together a fleet of vehicles manned by th courageous n foolhardy..braving battlefields, toxic zones and th badlands to get their job done...
their motto "delivery..or death"

so then.. as I havent had much time nor fodder for customs beyond a head swap I thought id enter a joe buck based entry
only th 2nd one ive done and boy it presented a challenge...
sanding down areas od paint rub etc was laborious and ive still much to learn..
went for a very basic military look
bodys a conglomeration..th backpacks a hack job
the mechpoon and 'faust are scratch built..

with resources almost depleted civilisation squabbled desperately over the refuse heap of th world those in command looked to the dissidents and the unruly to provide yet more meat for the machine wars..
cheaper than mechs the penal battalion's were an immense success , in their first deployment during the 2nd battle of poughkeepsie waves of convicts armed with crude explosive weaponary either swamped the opposing mechs or caused enough distraction to allow conventional forces to do so...
with teeming hordes of starving and sick citizens back home to draw upon new and ruthless laws were soon passed...
a sentence served in the penal battalions was almost always lethal... those that lived became legends..
one name in particular stands out... citizen stubbs... mechpooner first class with over 70 kills on his record, a dissident from seattle he proved that with th right will flesh is stronger than steel..after his sentence was up he dissapeared into the nevada badlands ,emerging later as leader of the famed
vonnegutte resistance

Im torn between lovin th clean lines n colours I see from dudes like stronox and ratfink and digging th dirt... im in th middle of a lowlight custom. reckon ill try n make him a lot cleaner...

so do I k tiger..on th whole.. but I think from a learning perspective to produce clean lines etc is an essential step ...
like drawing cartoons..its first necessary to understand proportion..
to produce a clean fig..then fuck it up.. is more authentic..not explaining mesel well..
too much sun!
but rather than just slap paint on to really think about colour, weathering from a perspective of process..

a couple more ARW customs...th obligatory spec ops team,
black sun commandos , recruited from th sol ranks they are th go to boys when mission success is critical. .
originally formed to eliminate the remnants of th nazi high command after berlin finally fell in '52 the black suns adopted pagan esoteric philosophies as th core of their martial ideology,
eschewing conventional tactics they excel and revel in CQC utilising a fusion of ancient eastern and nordic fighting systems

a pretty simple paint n head swap job these.. tried to use different textures of matts and satin shades on these..
also made weapon slings for th first time... (god damn ye obi, MUCH swearing ; ) ) making buckles was a real pain.. any tips on making em would be welcome !
one problem ive still to nail is paint flake on th rubbery forearms.. ive washed , graded and primed , painted n varnished but still it flakes..
need to try latex in th paint mix yet..

Every time you post something new, it makes me want to pick up some ARW stuff more and more. I'm trying to hold out until the Raptor and the Laurels release but it's so hard when I see great stuff like this! I really like Sykes, what head is that? It's got loads of personality.

Looks like one of the German heads from the last wave of 21st Century WWII figures.

Agreed, it gives them a little more individual personality, which makes them more fun.

Wrestling figures are where the "personality" head sculpts tend to be. I've got head sculpt with gritted teeth that I want to say is Bbi, and the 21st Century USMC and IJN Marines have some pretty good ones.

I think a few of the wrestler heads have been cast (star wars geek did a couple, at any rate), but no one has repopped the 21st or Bbi stuff, that I know of.

thanks VC..aye..was a bit challenging sewing at that scale but im pleased with th result nhave a template worked out..will be transferable to cloaks as well..
need to find more material though..that was an old 1/6 tee..
