so they have deleted ppls neg comments about art work on FB and this is what they had to say

The GI Joe Collectors' Club has addressed criticism about the GI Joe Figure Subscription Service(FSS), with a post on Facebook:

There has been a lot of "controversy" over the art for the FSS. Some like it and some HATE it. A lot! :) We thought it might be fun to show some of the reference the digital artist was given. He was asked to rework them as much original art as possible to make the FSS carded figure art as retro, nostalgic and consistent to each other as could be done in a very tight time frame. We think he did a pretty good job overall. Check out where he began. It looks like A LOT of work to get where he got to starting from these!

So they deleted criticism? Ha! Wonder where they picked up a trait like that? :p Maybe they should have planned better and either did all that sooner than later or at least offered bagged figures so people didn't have to get the carded stuff. And the person that digitally reworked those images didn't really have to do too much work, did he? I mean, the stuff was already made so all he had to do was spruce it up a bit. I'm sure Rex could have done that better and faster with his d!ck in his hand the whole time.

I wonder if it was just one of them that did it and now they are butt hurt because they are not getting verbally fellated? Perhaps they cheaped out so much they did the art themselves on a bootleg photo shop. :D

No, they cheaped out and didn't pay someone to do it properly. Not all the 25th card art that was new looked great either (nor did the vintage ARAH artwork all look fantastic) but they weren't so lazy as to just do badly Photoshopped jobs on the newer stuff...

The Frankenstein jobs are the most obvious, since they're literally cobbled together from various artwork, and not all of it looks right together. But the Cover-Girl is really bad.

They just got butt-hurt by it. Do I get pissy when someone shits on my work? Yeah, but you know what, that's life for an artist. If the people you do work for don't like the work, guess what... They're not hiring your ass again.

Now, they're not all as bad as everyone's bitching about, but the artwork is lazy and doesn't look that great, considering that most of the figures were done in the same half-ass manner. I don't give a shit if it's a skeleton crew producing these things or 50 guys, just do it right. Especially if you're charging $20-25 for each figure.

Look at things like the card stock or print quality on the carded Dial-Tone. It's not that great, and it shows that they cut corners. The GIJCC cards used low-res artwork because either the printer in China was too stupid to realize that the artwork was pixelated or the artist forgot to send them high-res artwork. Either way, that shit would not fly in my job, to send shit-quality artwork in final formats, especially at a premium price. They'd kick that back to us, and either our shop or the printer would have to eat the cost for the fuckup.

OMG...if you want more positivity, stop making trash...if you halfa$$ it, yer gonna hear about it...

though, in their defense, they are most likely used to constant cock gobbling from the Joe community

Hmm. What was on the March issue cover? Maybe I did get that one, but I think since all this fuckup with credit cards, I haven't received a single damn issue.

And I have TWO memberships. Fuckbags.

I still can't believe that they're daft enough to launch the sub during JoeCon registration. Are they trying to make the least money possible? Joe fans are notoriously cheap. Wait a month, then do it. They may think they're "bundling" customers by getting them to do both at the same time, but my money is on folks not willing to pony up for JoeCon and 1-2 subs at the same time.

What's the harm in waiting 30 days? Hell, they dragged it out this far, may as well wait a few weeks longer.

Some of them will go on the ramen noodle diet, skip rent or cancel their membership to the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic porno site for a couple of months to cover it.

True. Honestly, I'm to the point where I may only get one FSS sub, if that. I was all up for two 6 fucking months ago, but considering that I'm quitting my job in a few weeks and flying solo for a month or two to take a break, and then going to SDCC (hopefully, if my press pass gets verified), my priorities will have severely shifted.

Which is unfortunate, because I wanted a carded set and one set to open, and I know they'll pop some awesome 13th figure if I don't get the sub (if I do, it'll be some lame figure... no doubt on my part about that) but that's too much money dumped on stupid shit at one time for my budget, and I'm not even in the regular lot of "cheapo fans".

I like it. It means that they'll sell less and the ones they do sell will be worth more when you scalp... er, resell them.:pirate:

Also, unrelated: could they be stretching out the con reveal any more? We've seen three figures in almost two weeks.

I'm usually not one to defend the Club, but I think they had their BotCon this past weekend. Probably explains their Joe-quietness lately.

But I agree, MR, the Club missed the boat with the Sub. The golden opportunity would have been Jan/Feb, after people are done holiday shopping and Hasbro's waves were drying up, but before Retaliation hit the shelves (and you're right, before JoeCon and the Con Exclusives.)

Also, it's not just about the money. I was pretty enthused when I first heard about the Sub, and that's why I joined the Club for the first time in July. I didn't care for more than half of the revealed figures, but I had already set aside $350 for it. This constant delay (coupled with how they handled the credit card scandal), made me lose my enthusiasm, and I'm more than likely going to pass on the Sub.

Their golden window was DEFINITELY back in early spring... Not now. There's too much coming out, plus people go on vacations, etc.

And pairing the two seems to be a dumb decision, but that seems to be their M.O. lately, so...

I don't buy that excuse. They had it in their back yard which should have given them extra time to post some more Joe Con info.

I got my April issue today! This is my last one until I decide if I want the FSS or not depending on price. I know I'm going to get the Con set already.
If they are doing the FSS at the same time as Con registration then I bet 90% are going to take that monthly payment plan.

What the Club "should" have done and what the Club does are rarely the same action...

How could they justify $20-$25 per figure when mattycollector only charges $20 for a 6" licensed MOTU or DC figure? If they want $300 for a dozen random joes, half of which I don't even care about, then I'll have to seriously re-evaluate.

And if they open it up the same time as the con registrations, i.e. Oktoberfest, then I know where my money is likely to go.

On some level, I thank my stars they aren't as incompetent as the mattycollector folks, but after seeing the TF subscription service, I knew that they have NO ONE that's ever heard of marketing. Anyone see the figs they trotted out? It's one figure for each realm or incarnation of TF, i.e. one War for Cybertron figure, one TF Animated, one Bayformer, one Beast Wars figure, etc. No TF collector on the planet cares about ALL those lines. Who would sign up for such a trainwreck? The TFCC is about as clueless as they come.

If they had any sense they'd do a lot of shit that was a wiser business decision. Like having bagged sets that cost less money than making all of them carded. Or not having signup for this set during Con registration. Or about a billion other things.

All of this right on the heels of their credit card clusterfuck.

They make some great figures that we can't get elsewhere, but damn it frustrates me to hell the cost and frustration involved in getting them.

08/10/2012 - G.I. Joe Collectors' Club FSS launch update!

GIJCC FSS Update! The launch of the G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club Figure Subscription Service is imminent; we will notify you the link when we make the service active. While we are loading the final details, here are some things to remember:

1. You must be a member of the G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club to take advantage of the Figure Subscription Service.

2. There is NO reason to rush the site or be in a hurry as this is a build to order system. We will build as many as you order, so we cannot run out. YOU CAN ORDER AS MANY AS YOU WANT, there is no limit.

3. What you do need to be concerned about is the closing date of the subscription service, which ENDS on September 4th at midnight.

4. You can either pay In Full or by Installment. There will be 3 installments. When you subscribe and choose pay by Installment, you will be billed for the first two months’ shipments. Then sometime during the second month, you will be billed for the 3rd and 4th months’ shipments and sometime during the 4th month you will be billed for the final 2 months’ shipments.

5. Your free surprise 13th figure will come with your final shipment during the 6th month.

6. The figures will be shipped in random order. All members receive the same figures each month. The figure pairings will not be preannounced. So if you don’t mind, when you get your shipment each month, PLEASE do not go online and tell what you received. We want each shipment to be a surprise for as many members as possible.

7. The cost is $294 if Paid In Full (plus shipping) or three Installments of $98 (plus shipping). Please note that there is a $3 online processing fee for each billing. We take Visa, Discover or MasterCard. Unfortunately we cannot accept Money Orders or Checks for this offer.

8. If you pick a shipping service that does not include insurance or if you don’t pick the insurance, we do not have any responsibility for replacement of lost or damaged or misdirected orders.

9. If you move or need to change your credit card during the program, you can log into your account and change it there. This will change all of your future FSS billings and shipments. We will also be sending you reminders to check your address and cc before each billing/shipment goes out. We are not responsible for shipments that are lost due to incorrect shipping information on file.

10. We are waiting on the final schedule from China so we don’t know exactly when the first figures will ship. We hope it will be by Christmas. We will announce this as soon as we get the final schedule.

11. Some of the figures (single figures) MAY be available in the Club Store after the subscriber’s figures ship. These will be at a price of $32 per figure. There is no guarantee of availability of any of the figures in the club store. If you want to ensure getting these limited edition figures, you need to subscribe to the service.

About 22.62 a figure before shipping, spread across the 13 figures.

Edit: NVM, 13th is free.

$24.50/figure if you don't include the 13th. $22.60 if you include the 13th since you are basically paying for it. That's not including shipping of course. Figure on at least $11 for that. Almost puts it to $30/figure. That's more than an SDCC exclusive. It says you can order as many as you like too.
