M48 turret + Unimax M1A2 chassis = ?


Anyone got both of them? I've got the 48, but no Abrams.

I've never taken them apart. Seem like roughly the same size I suppose. Could look interesting for sure.

Put the M48 turret on the Type 98

Too small a chassis I imagine. The turret on one of my 48s is easily removable. I imagine it'll come down to the hole in the Abrams.

Change the main gun, maybe remove the search light and cover the turret in ERA bricks and I think you'd get a cool, future tank. I've been toying with the idea for a while. A Crimean dragoon/lancer unit.

The hole on the chassis of the Unimax Bravo M1 is bigger than the hole on the chassis of the M48. I did this by measuring them side by side with tanks on their sides with their turrets on. The chassis hole on the M1 is quite a little bigger and may not support the turret correctly without filler. Suggest the PTE or BBI M1. Hope it helps Big K.

Eh, I think you may be faulty in your measuring. I'll await someone actually measuring the chassis hole on the Abrams.

Smart call Big K. I didn't want to damage the tanks and it's better to be 100% sure.

Well I know the M48 opening is 3.75". Barring clearance issues it may be as simple as using longer retaining clips or a new retention piece may need to be fabricated.

I can be more scientific and get you an exact measurement if you want, but it is definately way too big

Those outcroppings concern me, but I still think putting longer retaining blocks on the M48 turret will do the trick.

I'd think as long as it has atleast two extra inches that can be used youll be in the clear

This is all speculation, anyhow. I'm not sure my Target is still carrying the Abrams. Didn't see one last time.
