Which vintage Joe torso do you think best represents an M69 vest from Vietnam? None of them are perfect, I just want a good proxy.

Cutter v 2/3: Not really accurate but included it anyway.

Cross Country: Close but the collar is a bit off and has the annoying strap.

Viper: Seems to be pretty close except for the shoulder pads and the visible vest clips on the front.

Other?

Funny, I find the Viper the LEAST likely option. Cross Country's strap can at least be turned into a M3 bandolier.

Cross Country for sure...of the three he's got the least amount of crap on it AND it looks the most similar IMO

I found this thing. It's not quite right but could probably be easily modified. But it has me wondering if there are any other removable vests out there.

I floated the idea of sending a first series Vietnam figure with the M69 torso to Jesse for casting and conversion to a removable item but no one seemed interested.

21st did a few WWII figures that came with slip on coats to go with alternate arms the figure had.

I would have been game, but only for one. I need one to be the prototype. I would like to have a Vietnam inspired figure produced at some point and I would need to provide a prototype figure and accessories to be reverse engineered.

Here's another possibility. It has the front pockets, the padded neck, and the flap cover the front. It does have some of the other unwanted junk though.
