Clear label paper...possible decal source?

I was at staples the other day and came across clear label paper, several sizes, for laser and ink jet printers. Has anyone thought of using this as decal material? I don't know how adhesive it would be on curved areas like sleeves and such, and I'm wondering if it would be too thick in general.

Yes, before anyone says it, I know you can't use this for decals with white in them.

Thoughts? Musings? Witty banter?

I imagine at best you'd get Hasbro vehicle sticker-like results.

Yeah, and the adhesive generally isn't that great when working with plastics.

Since you are printing on the outside of the sticker. (The inside being the glue side.) You still need to treat the sticker if it is going to be heavily played with or used outside, or else the ink may run.

Unless it's a laser print?

But yeah, I was wondering that about the ink jet version. What would one treat that with so it wouldn't run or smudge...some sort of fixative? Matt sealer?

I have had huge success with regular white printer paper. I print out the images I want , spray the page with matte seal coat , the same stuff I use to seal the figures, let it dry and repeat process a couple of times. Then I wet the back of the paper behind the decal and gently rub away the paper until all that is remaining is the image. I get the decal wet , apply it to the desired location and after it dries apply a coat of dull coat over the entire area to act as an adhesive.

The problem I ran across with these is that they will be clear or see through.
Plus my printer doesn't print white. I doubt many don't except very high end printers.

Pretty much only a gel ink printer from the late nineties/early 2000's. it's nearly impossible to find one on the market that won't run ya about the cost of a maker bot. You would think, the ability to print white would be a more popular feature.

Alps was the go-to for printing white decals. Unfortunately they were delicate objects, and the cost to upkeep them quite high.

For things like patches I'd just print them on normal paper then apply them with decoupage medium.

The only solution I have come up with when printing white decals is use the testors white waterslide paper and use the same process I do with regular paper. You will just have to be more careful cutting around the decals so you do not end up with a white border around the edges.
