These figures are practically useless outside of heads and their tiny Dwarven-steel blades. I didn't think that needed mentioning here. :/

maybe I wanted a Hobbit army to roll with my MU Cable :calvin:

Unfortunately Hasbro doesn't have the license. Then again their track record for articulation + movie figures has been on a downward slide.

If its on a downward slide, what do you call Mattel, a fat guy stuck in a rolling truck tire?

Mattel shouldn't be allowed any licenses that involve boy-aimed toys. I suppose their 6" DC line is passable, but they couldn't make a 1:18 figure to save their collective lives.

I'll probably get some of these, especially the listed Orc/GOblin w/Warg beast pack.

Toy biz made the 6 inch figures. I think I may buy some of these figures, just for the hell of it! There sure as hell is nothing out there to buy now.

So who's doing these?

Bridge Direct (has a bunch of ex-Toy Biz and Play Along employees on board)

Some new 3.75 leaked out:

http://www.tolkiendrim.com/tauriel-fimbul-revele/

warg rider:

Looks on par with the Indiana Jones horse, I'll be wanting a pack of these.

That expanded material, still we now have 1/18 elves.

Other figures include:

Honestly these don't look too bad. I hope they do well since they've got 3 films to cover and hopefully some LotR stuff eventually. Plus we need some Trolls, Smaug, giant spiders, more fantasy fodder for customs etc.

If I get my filthy hands on the 3.75inch I'll have to do some showcasing to the board, take one for the team.

I seriously want a pack of those Warg sets, mix and modify the rider with the other Goblin figures so they aren't all the same.

If they make enough goblins I imagine Warg cavalry will be much easier to execute than it was in 1:12. I like the look of the gal packed with Legolas, but I have a feeling that tart's head is not gonna be compatible (size) to any Joe female buck.

I wonder how far this line will go. ToyBiz was pretty damn thorough in it's characters/variants released, god bless 'em.

action figures were selling good then too. and yes, toy biz knew it's base. Look when they had the xmen line, they made all kinds of obscure characters. None of that wolverine in every wave crap. Except, when they did, it was a legitimate wolverine in different costume people wanted.

Toy Biz is not completely innocent when it comes to Mattel-esque figure variants. There are plenty of examples from the latter half of the '90s of TB's proclivity for oddly themed subsets.

And these aren't the only ones, but be sure there was a Wolverine in every one of them.

To be sure, though, they started this in '96 or so, and before then all the Wolverines were comic-based.

Marvel Legends was a bit better, but you were still getting overlap, especially when they were running X-Men Classics and that Spiderman line.

while yeah, they did make that crap, the majority of those were on the tail end of things.

But look at the pros. Will Marvel Universe make Eric the Red, Senyaka, Bonebreaker, Raza, Kylun, Random, Fitzroy? plus many others that comic fans love?

That's what was cool with this line, right out the gate they were making these characters and not always making 2-3 wolverines and a spiderman per wave. You got a nice wave each time.

Nope.

Toy Biz did G. W. Bridge, Ahab, fucking QUARK! Quark! Black Tom, Slayback, etc. etc.

A full team of Claremont/Lee Acolytes would be awesome.

So society has gone from Soldiers and Robots to Elves and Fairies?

Sheesh.

Eh, The Hobbit was published in '37, no need to torsion your nuts. It has nothing to do with why our society is about to pull a 410 AD.

Apparently these have been spotted in TrU. Now the site has them as releasing October 1, so they're not gonna be everywhere.

Anyoo, think I'll take a chance on the ginger elf broad.

Someone on JoeCustoms has grabbed several of these, and it looks like the heads will be compatible with Joes.

They also mentiond Bolg would look good fighting Thor, so I guess that answers the nagging question of who to display the Odinson with.

I've been waiting for a dedicated fantasy line of 1/18 since the Armies of Darkness line (also because fuck Narnia).

That's one fucked up and creepy looking Orc/Goblin (considering old Puffy Faced Elephant man in The Return of the King).

Gotta give it up to Bridge Direct for these, fantastic sculpting. The Warg has all the joints you could dream of.

The Figures themselves could use some Ankle joints. I'll be going full retard on this line.
