This whole retro-style fad is vexing the hell out of me. I would have bought the hell out of the Professor. Still, if they come in ~$10 I may be able to salvage the head.

I don't know what the fascination with retro figures is about. It frustrates the hell out of me.

Especially Funko because they make great 6" figures of lines I am really interested in. Then they make those crappy 4" ones -.-. Some are okay at best but the humans all look terrible.

I do have a soft spot for Kickstarter lines though. I really like supporting "the small guys" to get a more diverse range a figures out there.

It's cool to see what people are trying to get going via KS, but for every BSF line there's one like this.

KS being what it is, for action-figure potential that is, and these are the turds they're pushing out.
You couldn't give these things to me.

This is what happens one you open the floodgates to support $25+ figures that nobody will see in a year.

They look far too cute and cartoony for me. More like a line from a kids Saturday morning cartoon. These are H.P. Lovecraft creations. They should exude menace and horror.

To get all four figure you have to pledge $110. That's $27.50 a figure. Now I love 5POA Kenner-esque figures but not at that price. I'll monitor it and if some of the stretch goals get unlocked to make the pledge more worth while, I'll give serious thought to jumping in on it.

Not much of a motivator to contribute. Based on the shadowed outline of stretch goal #2, it's a variation of the Cultist. So they have 4 molds and are working off those 4. For the price, I'd have preferred different figures than color/translucent variations.

I think the Crazy Cat Lady figure appeals to people's sense of humor. These are aimed at playing on false nostalgia.

I'd suggest the SOTA Cthulhu and Dagon. Their Pickman Ghoul probably won't mesh with 1:18 figures as well. At this point they won't be cheap, but it's better than Kenner Cthulhu figures. If you're pockets are deep get the Nyarlathotep statue, too.

Dubious taste is dubious taste, regardless of whether it's false nostalgia or a bad sense of humor causing it:p. But hey, if someone wants a crappy figure for entirely too much money, go nuts.

I like that SOTA Cthulhu and may pick one up down the road.

They added the Cultist leader to the free stretch goals and announce that Lovecraft will be the free stretch goal figure @ 140k and a 12" Cthulhu figure will be an add-on if they get to $200k

These guys are making out like bandits. $27 each for a 5 poa figure? I'd venture a guess and say including all preproduction costs worked in these probably cost less than $5 each to produce.

Which ones?

I also got these a few years back and would work perfectly with these figures. The big ones are about 3" tall and the small ones are about 1" or so. I'll have to dig them up for some scale pictures. Mine are a lot more brown than the ones on Amazon.

The idol and staff are particularly interesting, and I can always use another scale tome. I know there's a few various Cthulhu items kicking around Etsy, too.

As an aside, I'm probably the only one that thinks SOTA's Nyarlathotep is far more terrifying than ANY depiction of Cthulhu. That's one I wish had gotten the action figure treatment.

I'm not in the overpriced statue market. It was intended to go in their Nightmares of Lovecraft figure line, but sadly it was relegated to polystone statue status.
