I just got my Low-Light (Pursuit of Cobra version) today. I put it off for a long while but finally took the plunge & got one.

As I write this, he's still in the bubble card but I plan to get him out of there eventually.

I mostly got him because I was thinking my 3 3/4" Joe team needs a sniper / snipers for both offensive & defensive reasons. I went to FaceBook & asked Larry Hama (the man himself!) who he considered to be the Joes' BEST sniper.

He said, "Low-Light". Low-Light's name was the first that came to my mind, as well, when I first asked myself the question BUT then I wondered if that was necessarily the correct answer. Didn't want to assume that since he is billed at the "Night Specialist".

I'll post pix later if anyone cares.

Glad you picked him up, he's a fantastic figure! But the sad thing is, he will only work in certain areas. There's a way to fix it, the Marauders version is in a much better pallet for "jungle" or day light operations. Just gotta paint the blue parts of
him.

Until he gets a proper camouflage release (and fuck no the Marauder version isn't proper) he's stuck being DM.

And he probably said Low Light because how many other Joe snipers can you think of off the top of your head?

I love Low Light...he's an amazing figure...and despite all the extra bulk he still has pretty decent articulation...he's just such a perfect well detailed update to his ARAH counterpart and the accessories are insane...

Thanks for the feedback, guys!

When I went asking around FaceBook about "best G.I.Joe sniper", in addition to Low-Light, these names also came up: Stalker, Crosshair, Barrel Roll, Snow Job & Hollow Point.

K-Tiger, What is "DM"?

Scarlett was the first Joe sniper. Check her filecard, Marine Sniper School. That qualifies her as a sniper, right?

Sweet Lowlights, X! Nice job fixing the 7 pack Lowlight, Slaymaker.

1) K-Tiger, Thank you for the info / response. D.M.. Got it.

2) Meddatron, You're right about Snow Job, I'm pretty sure. When I had the discussion on eBay, people were quoting filecards. I say that is a FAIR source!

3) daremo, You're right, too. I think Scarlett qualifies, even though the crossbow is her weapon of choice.

4) Ctrl_Z, I'm convinced! Ha, ha. Actually, am planning getting Low-Light off the bubble card tonight. ...By the by, did YOU take that pic of Low-Light set up at the window sill? Great photo.

Personally, I've been wondering if Low-Light will be able to do a lying down sniper position. I'm guessing it is difficult since he isn't built to be THAT articulate. If anything, it might be a reason for a custom or Hasbro to have another go at him. http://www.sobanj.org/xm110 semi sniper.jpg

5) As for anyone wanting to pick up Low-Light this late in the game, I learned that the average price he goes for on eBay now is about $41 (American), which includes shipping. I HAVE seen him on "Buy It Now" terms for in the neighborhood of $50, sometimes even in the range of $60. Amazon dot com has him for that higher price, too.

I'd encourage anyone that still has any hope / desire of adding him to their collection to buy him soon because it seems like supplies are dwindling FAST!

6) QUESTION: I'm curious. Usually, if a sniper has support, he has a spotter. But anyone more? You'd figure a sniper & his (or her?) spotter wouldn't want to be snuck up on. So, if a sniper has back up, how many people does he/she get? To what capacity? I'm thinking about writing my OWN G.I.Joe mission!

FatMaster,
The spotter typically is also another trained sniper. He would have to be able to make the shot if primary shooter isn't able to due to injury or other cause. He would also watch the rear/keep sniper covered if risk of being detected.

He will, but it will take modifying the neck articulation, at the least. Probably require lengthening the fore-aft torso slot and a bit of surgery on the arm and shoulder/chest, too.

Snipers work in two-man teams, as stated. The point for a sniper is not to get caught. ;)

The Russians took a play out of Chechnya's book and was using 2-3 man unter/killer teams employing LMGs/RPGs with their DM/sniper.

Using the neck articulation from a MU figure (Steve Rogers for example) and modding it onto Lowlight could work.

That it could. Using a Joe shoulder joint is a popular option as well.

Yeah I took it while on vacation in SF last year. And thanks.

I don't think he can get into a prone position. I dunno if any joe figure can.

Great Shot Z^^

Thanks. Maybe I can use that shot for next months banner theme contest hahah.
