Anyone know anything about these? When going through my stuff I found this little binder with the cards in them.

I think they came from SDCC in 2007 or 2008, but I can't find much information about them.

I never collected super heroes cards so I'm not sure why I got this, guessing it was a free giveaway or something.

Thanks!

Yeah, they're the 2007 Marvel Masterpieces. The sketch cards can fetch a pretty penny, but that's about it. I have about 6 or 7 binders full of complete sets of Marvel trading cards. I have this set as well.

you can probably buy the whole set now for $15 at comic conventions as well as every other collectible card set. I was collecting these when I was collecting Toy Biz X-men and marvel figures.

I still remember walking into Venture and seeing the super rare Invisible Woman sitting on the shelf. At the time I found it, toy shows were selling it for $200+

Now,

They re-released her as she was hard to find and took away the color change action and gave her a shitty catapult

I have just about every base set from 1990 onwards, including several of the subsets. I'd have to say the prize set in my collection is the 1996 Marvel Masterpieces base card set. It sells for upwards $800 on ebay. I'd love to get the Double Impact subset, but they're so dang expensive and 2 of them rarely show up.

I honestly don't care much for the new cards though. I like the original art for the cards, but the new sets just have pictures from comics and no new original artwork, unless you go for sketch cards, which I care nothing for. The Marvel Masterpieces series was my favorite from the '90s.

I haven't looked at my cards in about 2 years, and this makes me want to pull them out and reminisce...

I will always love the X-Men Series 1 set. Loved Jim Lee's style at the time. I also recall being in awe of Marvel Masterpiece series I. I'd never seen comic cards like those before. Joe Jusko, man.

I'd go buy a set but I'm afraid of how bad it would hurt.

Joe Jusko's Marvel Masterpiece set is probably my favorite. Like you, KT, the artwork blew me away, since at that time, there had never been card art quite like it. I still like his artwork the best in the '93 Masterpiece set as well. That set was kind of a letdown overall, IMO. I love Jim Lee's X-Men set too. I think that was the first full set I owned as a kid.

Actually... I think the 1992 MM, X-Men, and Marvel Universe sets are the most nostalgic for me, since they were the first cards I can remember getting at the local grocery store every time I went.

I had a lot of cards when I stopped collecting, which I think was 1995, as I'm pretty sure the 1995 X-Men series was the last set I tried to collect in the 90's. I ended up selling all of them on ebay about 7 or 8 years ago. Then, my manager at work gave me the 1992 Marvel Universe set as a birthday gift after we were talking about collecting Marvel cards as kids. The nostalgia was intoxicating and it sent me on an ebay spree. I bought back every set I had sold and then get several others I never had, as well as several subsets, or "chase" cards. They're all in 9-card page sleeves (1 card per pocket). I really should do an inventory sometime.
