Hey all!

In an attempt to add some more "realism" to my figures in preparation for the Acid Rain World stuff I have delved into the murky world of painting lol.

Constructive criticism please :)

Honestly, i know i'm a nubby mc scrubber pants on this forum but "grimey n gritty" is kind of my style and i'm always super happy to share any info / knowledge i've hunter gathered in my journey so far.
First off, start with experimenting different washes. You can youtube search it and find your own recipe pretty easily, for myself when it comes to figures I use Model Master's Acryl - GunMetal, water ratios normal etc and a few drops of Testor's "thinner" but rather than pour it on, i kinda brush it on liberally with a folded into a triangle napkin on the side, so any excess i can just dab and lift with the accuracy of a pencil. Once dry, I dry brush the ridges, folds etc of the surface, and broad surfaces with the original primary color, once that dries i take a slightly lighter/paler version of the original color and dry brush again, but just the points, ridges etc. not the broad surfaces. creates proper weathering while also giving some grit and depth.

Here's a picture of one of the Shipwreck's I recently made to give an example. Check his web gear, see how the wash soaked into the folds/concaves of the surfaces on his pouches? Once that's dry, dry brush over the ridges with original color, then lighter color. It creates the look of both grit and depth.

Looks good so far.
But I am not a fan of that splatter look.

The gas mask and helmet with comb look great !!!
