An ancestor of Laird James McCullen known as Destro, this McCullen has finally realized his family's legacy in full becoming The Commander. He was a cast away who spent most of his young life a pirate robbing and pillaging near by towns.
As punishment for his various crimes the towns people cut off his left arm at the elbow and beat him near death, which cause his lungs to function improperly. A Voodoo doctor in his village rescued McCullen and nursed him back to health. He created the power cell on his back to help his lungs perform their proper function and allow him to breath normally.
He grew angry over time and vowed revenge, which he exacted by killing the first born of every villager.
As his reputation grew so did his lust for more power and he knew there was only one place for him, the head of Cobra. He assassinated the current Cobra Commander at that time and gave his followers a choice, follow him, or walk the plank.
