The watchtower is finished. Now I have to build the Limes wall and find some more Roman soldier figures. Most important: I have to find a space for the diorama. The walls of the watchtower are 27 cm wide, the balcony 40 cm and the roof 42 cm. The building is 62 cm high. As you can see in the pictures the walls of the ground floor are stronger than the walls of the upper floors. In fact these watchtowers had about 70 cm strong walls on the ground floor and about 40 cm strong ones on the upper floors. As a watchtower had a crew of eight legionnaires, you may wonder why there are only two rather large beds in the middle floor. A Limes watchtower was no hotel. Two man had to share each bed in shifts. Also the further furniture was rather spartan. On the other side these guys were sporty: The clothing, armor and equipment of a Roman legionnaire weighted over 50 kg and they marched about 30 km per day.

In some pictures you can see GI Joe figures. I added these for purpose of a better impression of the size of the watchtower.
