Similar to what I have. Works fine as long as you are careful with what you are sanding/cutting. The single speed takes some finesse to work with. It is what I used on some figures and to cut the hole in the SDCC tank to put the good treads on.

Like sanding them down? There are small cutters/sanders you can use that for. Just do it very slowly or it will melt plastic since it has a high RPM.

I have that exact one. Bought it as a backup for when my dremil battery dies. It is really fast for me. A bit to fast for my preference, so I use it mainly with the cutter attachment. I bought an adapter for my dremil to use the bits. They are a bit smaller in diameter for the standard dremil.

As good as a multi, or even 2-speed, Dremel? Nope. Cheap? Most definitely. Will it serve? Yes, it will, especially for the light work most toy customizers use them for.

I use emery boards or exacto knives for joint prep.

I have a single speed Dremel, works just fine unless the material I'm cutting is really thick and I try to push it.

I have 2 of these and yes they are cheap . Quality as well as price I got them on sale at a Harbor Freight for about $10 on sale.

It does come with a lot of attachments.I got them as back up.

For the price they are so-so. Underpowered and they are one speed.

A current reducer would work but the things do not have a lot of torque if you use the reducer I think that you would be able to cut yourself out of a paper bag.

Save your money and get a Dremel Stylus. You can get them at Home Depot as well.

It has got plenty of power and is cordless. When building stuff it is almost all I use. But I do use a corded Dremel with a cutting wheel when I need to do that kind of stuff.

Gonna bring this back up as I am curious what bits people use for each purpose...like Obi's torso mods...is that done with a sanding drum? One of those cone shaped stones?

I have a ball end 1/8" bit I use the most - but sometimes feel there has to be something better...

so instead of a new topic - how about people post the bits and their uses???

Matt,

Here's what I use for most general uses, like torso and shoulder socket "reshaping" -

When I use them I have couple of engraving bits (107 and something similar to the 112), but I'm thinking I need me a 561 multipurpose cutting bit.

And maybe something like what Obi has there.

Mostly I'm using it for drilling holes, so thank god for the Dremel press.
