Is your focus auto, or can you do it manually? I would keep focus at one setting unless you are going to track with the figure from a greater depth.

Also, have you recorded yourself doing the movements? Or watched someone else doing those movements? It helps a lot when you're animating something if you watch yourself do it. At minimum 4 frames for an entire two step stride: a beginning and end of each step. A couple more frames in between can make all the difference. It is a lot of work, and working with action figures is difficult without rigging that you roto out of the photos, but don't be afraid to add more.

I think this was a very good attempt.
