I've a custom figure kit idea.

Ok... so everyone and their mothers have made a Sgt Slaughter.
the usual recipe is Copperhead's torso and arms with a Slaughter head, with maybe legs from other figures. Recently its become Retaliation Roadblock's body, with a head mold of either Hasbro's Sarge head or BnB Slaughter's head.

Now, I prefer not to have to paint anywhere on a figure where there's a joint.

My idea is.. for one of our known casters to cast the upper torso and arms of the Retaliation 3 pack Roadblock in a caucasian flesh tone. The 3 pack version because there is no molded straps on it. With the Slaughter head cast in the same flesh tone. The kit would of course include hands cast in the same flesh tone.
the kit would also include a baton and whistle cast from the Hasbro version.

The lower legs could stay the same I guess, but it would be cool to alter the feet to fit maybe Heavy Duty's feet.

I've no idea how Hasbro manages to attach the arm joints to the actual arm pieces though.

BUT

if I can figure it out and come up with a somewhat low cost kit, would anyone be interested in working with me?

By how they connect them you mean the "invisible" joint right? I've actually done the hidden peg joints one time, but before I put that kind of thing in my store I want to know for sure that it'll work every time. So a little more practice needs to be done.

Yeah, I've read that casting joints can be problematic, hence the relative lack of options at casting sites.

If this was available I might actually do a Sarge. All the ones I've seen have been a little too "by the book".

Very problematic but I have a solution to joint casting and should have masters back by the end of the month.

I'm gonna try to give him the usual jointed legs too. Just not diggin the RB legs.

Maybe carve away the knee pads and tool up some real knees.

I 'm working on a new Sarg head. I removed the hat from the BnB figure fixed the left side of the brim where it looked like someone bit it, and resculpted the top of his head to have his current Male pattern baldness look. I'll be filling the mold forms with rubber in a little bit so hopefully by tomorrow afternoon I'll have one to post on here. I'm also working on the BnB Roddy Piper head.

Here's how Sarg turned out. I made the mold so that it is BnB compatible, but w/ the simple turn of a drill bit by hand you can expand the hole to fit Joe bodies.

However I prefer him on Roadblock's body:

I had not only the online pics of him to go by, but also my dad's hair is about the same. So my 5yr old thought that it was a figure of grand daddy.

The Sarg head is in my store right now.

Update.

ok, I think Its pretty simple.

using the Retaliation 3 pack Roadblock upper torso and arms, a perfect Slaughter kit can be achieved.

Slaughter BnB head, Roadblock upper torso/arms will have to be cast in caucasian flesh.

that way, all that would need to be painted would be the shirt part (flat black), and the details of the head.(sunglasses, hat, etc)

his baton and whistle will be cast in black.

and hands.... well I'm not sure actually. Would folks want flesh hands? or just use Roadblock hands?

When the kit is ready for assembled.

customizer can put it on Retaliation RB lower body.

This way, any customizer can make a Slaughter without having to worry about painting/mixing flesh color. So no paint rubs, or having to match paints.

the kit would come with

head
chest/upper back
upper arms
lower arms
baton
whistle

now its a matter of finding a caster who'd be willing to work with me.

This is actually something I'm planning on trying to roll out soon since I can now do the hidden peg joints like the MU/ Joe shoulders. I have the head, and hat, just need to baton, whistle, and I suppose upper torso from the 3 pack Roadblock. Though the regular one could work just as well, and I'm thinking I'll cast the knees down from the old RoC Heavy Duty.

The knees would have to be modded to fit the RB thighs.

the squareness of them doesnt allow for closing the thigh halves together.
The est lower legs, imho are the ones that come with RB.

Also, though it is possible to use the single pack RB torso, the 3 pack version doesnt have the goofy backpack straps sculpted on.

I tried Crossbone's lowers on Ret RB's thighs and with minor modding they fit and look pretty ok.

Sarg upper added.

It looks great! I see you went with the single pack upper torso with the shoulder straps as opposed to the 3 pack RB torso without the straps.

Any plans for maybe a master kit?

one that comes with

head
upper torso/arms
whistle
baton?

If I can get a hold of the whistle, and baton then I'll add them, but I don't know where I'd get them.

I know you guys think that he probably looks better w/o the straps, but check out mine painted up:

Here's the strap across the back:

Here's how he stacks up against the other two figures of him that I have:

Nt bad at all...no straps would certainly look better IMO, but it doesn't really look bad with them either...

I just got the package in from Major Blood w/ the SDCC Sarg items in it, and there's a small revolver that came with the SDCC Sarg so I'm thinking I'll add in a small holster that can be added to the straps to make them look like there's a reason for them.

I added the whistle, and baton to my store about a week, or 2 ago, and I'm going to try to get to the holster, and gun idea soon.

I've tried a few different holsters, but none of them really looked right. I might just nix the idea of the holster.
