I started casting items, using alumilite's quick set mould maker and natural colour plastic. So far so good. I assume a lot of members here cast items..so I wondered if anyone would know how well the mould makers from other companys work with alumilite plastic? The alumilite mould maker sets good and all but comes in such small containers and takes an eternity to dry...
If it makes any difference, I'm casting pouches for web gear and guns, essentially. Also some custom items like full rpg rounds, ammo for a custom soviet recoilless rifles, etc.
Since I'm on the topic, if anyone has the following I'm dying to get my hands on them to cast, but feel bad buying the figures I don't want (they end up in big dusty boxes of shit hasbro has messed up beyond redemption or is the 10000th incarnation of the same figure):
From http://www.yojoe.com/action/11/viper28.shtml , the automatic pistol, rocket launcher and rocket.
And from the 21st century toys eastern warrior #1, the pkm machine gun ( I ordered these from broken arrow toys and have since learnt I might as well have wiped my arse with the money I paid him, as I just won't get them, and if I do, it'll be in my will who it goes to as it won't be this century).
Obviously I wouldn't sell any of the reproductions, but I have to say, I have even more admiration for marauder John products when I see the items and really study them up close...the amount of detail is amazing.
Any tips from other members?
