I really liked the Terminator endoskeleton figure Playmates put out for Terminator Salvation, but man did it need some tweaking!
First off, the head had to go. Zero articulation in the neck, not even a cut joint! And the expression, mouth wide open like it was witnessing it's own death...horrible. Luckily, Starwarsgeek had a copy of the head that SDS had available for a short time. I asked him to make some copies (thanks SWG!) and I purchased a few. I also added the neck pistons and control cables, man that really gave my eyes and hands some punishment.
The next thing I wanted to do was give it as much articulation as possible.
I cut him in half right above the pelvis and using a small screw, gave him a cut joint, I did the same thing to each of his forearms.
I then cut both of the legs off at the hips, drilled holes through the point where the legs were connected on the pelvis and also a hole into the top of both legs.
I then inserted a wire through the pelvis and added the legs onto the ends. The legs are pressure fit while the point in the pelvis is glued. It may not look like much, but this gives it the ability to open up his stance better for things like motorcycle riding.
Lots of semi-precise work and lots of fiddling...just about drove me nuts.
And I have at least six more endoskeletons I want to give the same treatment to!
I'd like to give it's hands some articulation, and I talked to Obi-Shinobi about his Revoltech joint method but there doesn't seem like enough material to work with. The hands themselves could use some replacing, but there isn't anything in this scale that's looks better/more accurate.
But all in all, I think it kicks ass.
