Thoughts on this...

I'm working on a Mars Attacks custom (not the crappy Burton film, more like the 90's comic) and I was thinking of using rig from a Sky Dive figure (I think that was it's name?)
I know it looks pretty bulky as the figure itself is very thin, I thought this would add some nice contrast.

The lid next to it is going to be it's helmet. The helmet is supposed to be somewhat flat on top, it was drawn that way in some of the comics. I plan on cutting down the collar a bit so the helmet will look to have an air-tight seal, not ride so high.

So...thoughts on the rig?

I have nothing to had on the actual point at hand, but wanted to chime in that the movie Martians were damn near identical to the '62 trading card Martians.

SO suck it!

And Mezco is doing a 1:18 Martian this Fall. ;)

Oh I agree that the movie martians were identical to the original trading cards, what I didn't like about the film was how Burton made it into a "darkly funny" movie instead of the gore fest and action thriller it could have been.

Well that's Tim Burton for you. If they had been exhcanging bodily fluids at the time Helena Bohnam Carter would have played the female Martian.

Anyhoo, I think the rig you've got going will work.

i don't know jack about this movie or anything, but am interested in seeing it done, how are you planning on cutting down the helmet?

I'll cut it down and shape it with a dremel with a sanding drum bit.

Yeah, Burton can't do anything but "darkly funny" films, case in point, the currently playing Dark Shadows movie. That man needs to stop ruining properties.
Although I DID like this take on the Sleepy Hollow story.
And Edward Scissorhands wasn't bad.

O.k., I guess not ALL of his movies suck or are dark comidies.

I think the rig will work, just need to remove a few things, reposition some straps. This obviously won't be accurate to anything seen before, but it will be in the same vein.

My big gripe with the rig is that it keeps pulling to one side and I don't know why! It did this on the figure it came with too.

Pinning it in place...had't thought of that, thanks K!

It was because of Christopher Walken.

sleepy hollow was great. johnny depp kicks ass.

He has his moments. I always chuckle when I think back to him being in the first (or second) Nightmare on Elmstreet movie and his character goes out yelling for his mom. I think that was his big screen debut.

i believe it was, then 21 jumpstreet soon after. i think he can play a character better than anyone could, take the pirates movies, he did a hell of a job, or in from hell, i'm not to into tim burton though. but i think johnny depp plays tim burton characters better than anyone could do, he brings a whole other element to acting.
