In the eons between the First Host of the Celestials on Earth and the retreat of the great ice from the nascent Empire of Man, the Great Old Ones came and Atlantis was raised from the magma of the mid-Atlantic Ridge. The Many-Angled Gods selected Earth as a convenient waystation in their routine travels across the non-Euclidian Planes, and chose a portion of near-men to be the custodians.
The Old Ones were absent for millennia at a stretch, and large portions of the near-men forgot the Gods they worshipped, and thought themselves inheritors of Atlantis, and all the world. But not Chondu, the interim high priest of the temple city known as R'lyeh; he maintained his faith in the Great Old Ones and the horror they promised.
Locking himself in his chambers for weeks, he beseeched his master C'thulhu via mystic communion to return to Atlantis and remind his fellows of their folly.
Though his efforts nearly killed him, Chondu learned to wish they had. Enraged by Chondu's effrontery, C'thulhu and his minions returned in force and ravaged all the Earth, nearly exterminating all the near-men from existence across the world, and sundered the spells that maintained the exudate that supported Atlantis upon its pillar. The eldritch isle was broken, and sank beneath the waves.
Luckily, some were able to transform themselves into water-breathers, and create a new civilization on the ocean depths.
Chondu was not so lucky. While Great C'thulhu's physical form yet slumbers beneath ruined R'lyeh, his dreaming mind is still active across the dimensions; and he selected Chondu to be his magical familiar. A spawn of Ogdru Jahad was implanted within Chondu's body and soul to give him power commensurate with the deeds he would commit in C'thulhu's name and to keep him loyal and obedient despite the spiritual agony this servitude caused him.
On occasion, C'thulhu requires Chondu to return to Earth from his far-flung duties in all the Hells of the Multiverse; and each time the Spawn of Ogdru Jahad within him manifests itself as a greater portion of Chondu's body and soul.
In recent times, Chondu was able to disguise himself as a normal-appearing mortal human, and he took the guise of proselytiser of a self-help program to spread word of C'thulhu's Final Coming, and he worked in collusion with a variety of criminal organizations such as the Headmen and the Circus of Crime to achieve other nefarious goals. But here we see him manifesting in the ruined chapel of the Eighth Chaos in sunken R'yleh in his full power and his Spawn of Ogdru Jahad comprising nearly half his bodily mass. What infernal objective of Great C'thulhu's has he come to wreak upon us?
Chondu here is the remains of a pair of BnB Kains bashed with the wings and feet of an on-sale Schleich green dragon. The 'arm tentacles' are floral wire. I drilled eight pinholes into the circumference of the shoulder socket 'bowl' and glued eight wires into them. I then drilled eight more pinholes on the outer shoulder circumference and glued four short lengths of wire across the shoulder socket, forming a cage to secure each of the arm tentacles in their own 'pie wedge', then filled it all in with FixIt putty.
