Not that I've had many reviews yet, for this one to be considered 'odd', but this is definitely not going to be a normal review. Read More »

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Review
Call of Duty is one of the most successful video game franchises in the world and every year around Veteran’s Day a new edition is released. This year was the sequel to Treyarch’s Black Ops simply titled Black Ops 2. Will Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 deliver? I’ve personally preferred Infinity Ward’s CoD games more than Treyarch however I really enjoyed Black Ops and had high hopes for the sequel. The first thing that stands out in Black Ops 2 is the futuristic setting which many fans felt was a mistake. In reality the game is about 70% in the year 2025 and 30% in the 1980’s. The single player campaign has you shifting through time playing various characters including favorites from the first game like Sgt. Woods and Alex Mason. In the 2025 missions you play as Alex ... SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs Review
I have been a Sony loyalist for a long time now. The major attraction that continues to draw me to Sony is the huge selection of Sony exclusive titles. Somehow over the years I’ve continued to pass on a very successful series titled SOCOM. A few months back that all changed. I was able to purchase SOCOM 4: US Navy SEALs at a discount price for $10. I couldn’t pass this opportunity to finally experience a shooter that has a cult like following. For those that aren’t familiar, SOCOM 4 is a 3rd person tactical shooter. The single player campaign has you playing as Cullen Gray, a NATO Ops Commander. You lead a team of 5 soldiers against a entire army trying to take over a country in Southeast Asia. At times in the campaign you switch to Forty-Five, a Female Lieutenant in the ... Read More »
Transformers: Fall of Cybertron Review
Transformers: Fall of Cybertron is the sequel to one of my most enjoyable gaming experiences in recent years. Can the title live up to the first game? The short answer is yes the game lives up to the expectations and exceeds it. The game picks up right after the first title. The Autobots are trying to leave Cybertron in desperation as Megatron and the Decepticons are controlling the planet. You will play as Autobots and Decepticons over a 6 day period during a epic story with 13 chapters of play. Fall of Cybertron does a great job informing you of the story so it’s not necessary for you to play War for Cybertron however I highly recommend it. The first mission starts with a bang as the Ark is being ambushed by Megatron. This mission has you playing Bumblebee and ... Read More »
SDCC 2012 Shockwave HISS
Ah, Hasbro. Another year has gone by and you come up with another decent crossover exclusive. Although the tank was not the highlight of the set there was plenty to make this worth it if you got your hands on one. The HISS is a painted up Retaliation tank that has static treads. Those and a glass canopy are two things I’m not a fan of. The design of the new HISS tanks are ok but of course Cobra overlook certain engineering features. Open turret? Is this 1984 still? Let’s protect that gunner already! The attack mode is fairly worthless too. It points at the ground. Great of you want to dig a hole I guess. The did manage to use a barrel similar to the original Shockwave though. It is a little smaller but has the same design minus ... Read More »
Resistance: Fall of Man Review
November 2006, the Playstation 3 was released and a “system seller” came out along with it. The first must have game for the new system, Resistance: Fall of Man. Resistance is a first person shooter that takes place in 1951. Glancing at the game, you might expect this to be a World War 2 game but it’s so much more. The setting and story is what attracted me to the game so many years ago. In the 1930’s a alien race known as the Chimera land and take over Russia. By 1949 the Chimera have conquered Europe and are ready to completely take over the United Kingdom thus causing WWII to never happen. Even though WWII never took place, the setting is still relevant to world history. We were still focused on War and weapons during the 1940’s. Only now ... Read More »
Battlefield 3 Review
I’ve been a die hard Call of Duty fan for the last several years. I’ve heard the rumblings that Battlefield was a superior game however I’ve always viewed it as more of a PC game. In 2011, Battlefield 3 was released shortly before the annual CoD game. Many gamers decided that they had to have both, while some chose one or the other. Looking at sales, I was in the majority and chose just one title and that was CoD. Fast forward to Spring of 2012, Battlefield 3 was on sale and I decided to pull the trigger and see what the fuss is about. The first thing I noticed was the stunning graphics. Visually the game is top notch. DICE did a great job getting the most out of the Frostbite 2 engine. The lights and darks really stand ... Read More »
Medal of Honor: Frontline Review
In 2002, First Person Shooters were much different than they are today. They weren’t dominated by online and multiplayer modes. My interest in games were mostly toward action/adventure, role playing and sports. A game that I passed on in 2002 was Medal of Honor: Frontline. Enter 2012, as I was picking up my copy of the rebooted Medal of Honor that was released in 2010, I noticed a key feature on the games cover. A re-mastered HD version MOH: Frontline. This was a exclusive to the PS3 version of the game. Frontline was developed by EA and originally released for the PS2 and later released for the Xbox and Game Cube. Frontline takes place during Word War 2 and starts with Operation Overload. You play the entire game as Lt. Jimmy Patterson who was the hero of the first ever ... Read More »
Transformers: War for Cybertron Review
I’ve always been a Transformers fan. I enjoyed the cartoons as a child, played with the toys, and I’ve watched the live action movies several times. The one thing that I’ve always wanted from Transformers, was a good video game. When I first heard that High Moon Studios had begun work on a Transformers game, I had low expectations. My first concern was that the game would be a movie based game. As most gamers know, almost all movie based games suffer from low budgets, rushed deadlines and horrible results. Once I learned that the game was going to have it’s own story and not be tied to any movie, I was relieved. Transformers: War for Cybertron was released in June 2010. I purchased the game the week it came out and couldn’t wait to play it. WFC is an ... Read More »
Killzone 2 Review
I remember like it was yesterday, it was 2005 at E3. One of the most fascinating video clips in modern gaming history was shown. The graphics were the best I’ve seen. The action was incredible. It was being called the “Halo Killer” and a “System Seller”. The game that was shown was Killzone 2. I didn’t know much about Killzone. I knew it was a First Person Shooter and it was a Sony Exclusive and that was about it. After seeing the epic footage of Killzone 2, I decided 2 things. Number 1, I must get this game the day it comes out and number 2, I must find some info on Killzone. The footage that was shown at the 2005 E3 received much hype. Sony gamers were in awe. Microsoft gamers were immediately saying that it wasn’t actual game ... Read More »
