On a positive note. If wave 1 and 2 still hit now. That would all but have to guarantee that 3-4 would hit with the movie. Maybe this will guarantee we get them at real brick and mortar stores and not play the, will i find them at ross game.

Man, Hasbro just can't coordinate their toys with their media anymore huh? Resolute was what, 6-12 months before (and after) the series aired and went to DVD? Renegades figures were released after the series aired and was cancelled (or at least not renewed) and now this?

This sounds like a studio call, not Hasbro. I'm sure Hasbro folks are pissed, because it fucks up damn near everything they've done.

On a lighter note, the GIJCC postponed their registration yet another day. The funniest post I've seen in awhile at HT asked if the Club was in charge of the film production now. ;)

Are they still going to release the toys in store ready to go?

This is wierd. Do they think 3-D will bring that much more money in??

Wonder if I should put my Rock custom on ebay?? lol

The brick-and-morter stores already paid for those cases and I doubt Hasbro can say anything that would convince them to keep them in inventory for the next 9 months.

I just got an email from Kokomo Toys saying they are shipping their Wave 1 orders now.

That's if there is actually interest past wave one and two. No movie makes it tough to push a movie line I would think.

The thing is, they do this from time to time. But not usually with franchise flicks or toy-heavy lines. Movies like Shutter Island? Not a big deal. Had they moved it to say, August or even September, it wouldn't have been such a shock, nor would it have fucked the toy line.

But I imagine Hasbro makes way more money off the film than the toys in the first place, so...

very true, but im thinking they would have entire summer to sell movie figs and possibly get the others at or after christmas. i'm trying to be optimistic. If in the long run this makes me aquiring the figures i want that were shown. I'll take the pushback and still see the movie. Does suck to wait, but i can be patient. At least it wasn't cancelled. lol.

Wow. I can't say I was really looking forward to the movie, but still, no way is this good news...

http://generalsjoes.com/2012/05/23/...iation-pushed-back-nine-months-to-march-2013/

Yes it is true – G.I. Joe: Retaliation pushed back NINE months to March, 2013

Those early waves of Retaliation figures are definitely going to pegwarm with no movie to generate sales/awareness....

Is this really because of 3D? I would think that 9 months is too long for such a process, and that they probably would have already done that. Is this because Battleship sucks? Is it because Avengers is so good? Both my brain and heart are hurting.

You sank my Joe Movie!

:goodone: This had me rolling.

I saw that post as well and couldn't help but laugh.

Maybe they'll bring Renegades back now.

I wonder if they think it was worth cancelling it for the movie now?

The ol' Prattner broke it over there. http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-j...e-retaliation-delayed-until-march-2013-a.html

Should be a fun show. Scoop up those DG figures. Stock just rose!! :proposetoast:

I've already been reading through the posts. :proposetoast:

If you READ the article it is in there.

Third string. There is a link on the word "here". I figured that would be enough.

Thanks for the nod in the article, MB. I think that was the first time I've been "front paged".

Of course, all credit goes to Justin Bell and his site. Plus, as much as he obsesses over every minutia over that movie, I think he needs a hug right now.

The link on the bottom of the article reminded me...I wonder if this will affect Jinx being the SDCC exclusive this year. I'm guessing no, that it's probably too late for Hasbro to switch to something else. But it does throw that timing off quite a bit.

Yup, screw Chrome. Tried it for a day and uninstalled it. Firefox is the way to be. More personalized settings too.

I think the SDCC Jinx is safe.

However if they are willing to blow multi millions on changing a major studio film release date 36 days away from release... anything is possible I guess

I linked him too. I tried to give a few people credit for information that I collected. All the bases should be covered. I'm a veteran news hound! :D

Yep, I saw that, you did perfect. I was just emphasizing credit where credit was due.

No kidding. My heart goes out to him. I mean this with the greatest of respects, because I love his site (GJ and this are the only two Joe sites I visit with any regularity), but he's like a kid counting down the days 'til Christmas over that movie.

The good news is that he's in the process of moving, so his revolver's packed away somewhere. The bad news is he's in the process of moving, so his liquor's packed away somewhere.

After talking with some friends (non Joe nerds, just Hollywood dorks) I've pretty much come to the conclusion that it's probably all bullshit. Chances are, the film was screened and it tested awfully, and after Battleshit, they decided to pull a re-edit and/or partial re-shoot/re-write and bullshit it away as a "3D" edit.

There's no way spending all that money to turn a 2D movie into a 3D one this late in the game will bring in enough money to pay for the re-edit, let alone make a profit and make it worth their time to begin with. I'm betting it tested so poorly, they felt a rewrite would bring in more money, and may as well shoot some in 3D.

It's all speculation, but it sounds more plausible than the 3D-ification bullshit.

Paramount took a Battleshit on GI Joe.

Maybe we'll get a Director's Cut to go along with the Duke Lives 3D version.

I'm pretty sure waves 1 &2 will hit as scheduled...as they are already purchased by retail chains.

The upside is, we will see waves 3 & 4 for sure now instead of being inundated with 1 & 2 until next spring.

Heh. I see the usual suspects on the web are bitching at Hasbro for this, like they had anything to do with it.

I was JUST going to bring that up. It's not Hasbro's fault Paramount just screwed the pooch.

If anything, Hasbro (the toy side) is getting majorly fucked. All the product with no support now.
