Better than unwanted Renegades Cobra Commanders or nothing at all. DG joes are looking to be a flash in the pan.

My close walmart doesnt even have joes in stock to even put out. The employee that looked said they don't have any and had not planned on carrying the Movie line? This same Walmart was one of the ones who didnt carry POC till the very very end.

I would love to see the cut they are shelving.. wonder if it'll get leaked somewhere.

or at least the novelization..

me too...my guess, and my biggest fear...fans of GI JOE woulda loved the film we were about to see...but test general public audiances did not...so they are gonna add more Taint, who us fans all hated, and take out some of the stuff we woulda loved...

so yeah, i too REALLY hope the first edit makes it out some how, some way...

what would be most funny for me...back before they were even stared shooting, i keept saying the sequel wopuld never see the light of day...how fuunny if it turned out to be true...

Per Hisstank, TRU seems to be the only store that got the memo.

Meh, they also said the movie would be good. ;) Maybe by the end of the weekend other stores will comply. I would imagine they have more important things going on than a dying toy line.

What was it up against? It was never gonna match Spiderman: Das Reboot any way you slice it.

Watch, they're gonna retconn Duke's death. It's the animated movie all over again.
I think Spider-Man looked worse. The Lizard certainly looks like crap.

Hahaha! I do hope that Duke lives & is in a coma! That would be funny!

Ha!

I read that an industry-wide email from Hasbro went out that essentially told retailers "Fuck It. Ignore Steet Date and stock what you have".

I think I'll go find out.
It's too bad it won't get to retailers before the street date or they probably don't even care to read those memos.
My Walmart put up the spaces for them. Unfortunately that means they also marked the prices at $8.96. I only want to pay $6.97 for some. :talktothehand: (They had none.)

Ugh, "Buy what you can at retail, because that's fucking it until February 2013".

Well, at least I'll have no conflicts with the Joe line when I'm going to be hoarding Prof. X from the MU line.

General Joes has a report on the Movie toys...not exactly good news. Hope DG's around here start stocking.

http://generalsjoes.com/2012/05/25/hasbros-official-statement-regarding-g-i-joe-retaliation-toyline/

Here's what Hasbro says:

“G.I. Joe is an ongoing consumer franchise and therefore there is merchandise available to consumers. There is a limited amount of G.I. Joe Retaliation product at retail now, but in light of the movie moving out to March 29, 2013, the majority of the movie line will be made available early next year in time for the film’s release.â€￾

Thanks, man. Wasn't sure if it was cool for me to actually add his news or link it...

This is a very interesting article, that while it does contain a lot of speculation, reveals that Paramount was concerned about how Duke was handled in the movie:

So, it might be possible that they're changing more with the movie than simply making it 3D.

Guess I'm heading to TRU this morning. WTF are they going to do for the next 9 months?

Seriously.

I really, really hope that they use the opportunity to a) release some new product in the meantime and b) retool some of the movie stuff to make it better articulated and more movie-accurate.

From what I've read elsewhere, money and time were the big factors in why we were getting poorly articulated, non-movie-accurate sculpts in the first place. Assuming that's true - give us a wider release on some repaints like the DG stuff and you've got a) sorted, and it should take care of the money problem for b). Time they've got at this point. :)

Someone on Generals Joes suggested releasing some of the later figures, like the Night Viper, on 30th carding later this year.

Kwinn would be another logical release.

I mean, it can't be good for the line to lay fallow for 9 months. Particularly if "G.I. Joe is an ongoing consumer franchise and therefore there is merchandise available to consumers".

Also, I anticipate what movie product is out there getting snatched up by collectors and speculators pretty quickly, even the crap stuff.

Ugh, probably won't be able to even get a fucking Rockblock, whatkindashitisdis?

As for the 3D bit, it's been speculated that that's a cover for shitty reception at test screenings, and that they're adding more Tatertot because his movies are making bank from the SBD (Stupid Bitch Demographic).

Yeah, all of the stuff I was really interested in was wave 2 and later, so I guess we'll be seeing that in a year.

Kinda wishing I was going to JoeCon now, just to see the backlash. :)

Personally it's not the movie getting pushed back but the royal dicking the toyline gets because of it.

I think anyone thinking Hasbro will make improvements/accurate figures in 9 months time has been smoking too many American Spirit cigs.

We'll get the same figures (bad and good), just much later.

Well, I'm betting that only Waves 1-2 are at distributors or stores yet... They MAY liquidate all those to ROSS/Marshall's/discount stores and revise the packaging for a second printing closer to movie time, and then release the later waves then. Storage in warehouses can be fucking expensive...

Or hell, they could just keep shipping them all and then re-release some closer to film time in slightly new packaging. It's not like they've successfully had toys on the shelves with any property besides ROC in the last 3 years, so...

Who knows. They may be able to pull off repaints, but newly tooled figures are a no-go.

I'm thinking they should just expand on the Dollar General line for now. They already have 12 figures that could tide people over til they got more repaints in it.

Exactly. Get them ALL out there. Then work on a few more for the coming months.
