Honestly, I don't know...I have neither MP10 or Grimlock...nor do I know the real life scale of a semi and T-Rex compared to each other...

I'd love to see a shot of them both side by side though...

I'm thinking faith leader and MP Grimlock would be enter paired...or better yet, THS-02 and Grimlock!

No... a t-rex was only about 15-20ft tall, so that would be about 2x the height of a semi. Grimlock would be a bit small compared to MP-01, but for MP-10, I'll bet he's almost perfect.

he could be...since his alt mode (and Rodimus') arent earth based, they can be whatever size the designers make them...as long as the seating inside them is scaled corectly :D

I'm a sucker for a GOOD combiner also...I cringe when guys say "I wish Hasbro would make a insert G1 combiner name here."....uh, no, they'll just f&#* it up...now if Has/Tak wanted to do an MP combiner, that'd be another AWESOME story...

That's pretty much how I feel about the upcoming Bruticus. First, it's FoC in design which does nothing for the nostalgia whore that lives inside me. Then they go and make it in some horrid colors, only giving us vintage colors in an overpriced SDCC exclusive. That's two strikes, and I don't feel like ponying up for something that I'm really half-hearted about. TF fans are typically willing to shell out big bucks for anything, but HasTak has gone out of their way to suck... the desirability out of this combiner.

I'd rather spend that money on 3rd party stuff that looks good and fills a need in my collection... i.e. Art Feather Bumblebee and D-80 Wheelie. And I'll patiently wait for TFC to do a proper Bruticus.

That "Bruticus", is just awful, AWFUL!...the game design looks pretty cool honestly, but they did a horrible job of translating it to a toy...it looks so gangly and sh!tty...though, even if it was a perfect translation from the game design, I still wouldn't get it...for the same reason as you, its just not nostalgic enough...

And like you, I am also waiting on better Bruticus, even better than the fixed up one from Fansproject...

Shit, you guys are leaving me in the dust with the TF items. Must be a slow week for me!

That Wheelie looks decent, but I always hated the post-movie characters, and besides maybe and MP Springer, Ultra Magnus and Galvatron, I am not interested in any movie+ characters. He's just so obnoxious and strange looking, and I never could figure out what the fuck he was supposed to be. Like a space dune buggy?

I may not be getting Superion. He's looking great so far, but I always liked the Decepticon combiners better... mainly Menasor, Bruticus and Devastator. I'd only want Menasor in MP/Alternator scale, though, and then he'd tower over Devastator, and that would bug my OCD... Sigh.

Superion is the ONLY Autobot combiner that I'd want, though... I guess I'll wait and see, but he's no must-have like Devastator was.

I like all the early combiners... Devastator, Menasor, Bruticus, Superion, and even Computron. For some reason I don't care about the Terrorcons or Seacons or others that came later.

But the autobots didn't have as many gestalts, so I really liked Superior and Computron.

At this point I assume I couldn't afford a bunch of MP scale combiners, so I'll just be happy if they're all in-scale with Hercules.

Computron was always a jumbled up mess of... robotic things? I never liked any of the TFs who turned into random things or space vehicles. There was the Protectobot one, was he Defensor? If he'd come out earlier, I would have liked him a lot more, I think. He just appeared towards the end of my run on Transformers as a child, and he showed up extremely late in the US cartoons.

I never cared for the "Beast" Decepticon combiners, though. They just seemed too "out there" for some reason.

Yeah, that's my problem with the Terrorcons and Seacons. They turn into monsters, but they fly in the face of "robots in disguise". I just don't give two shakes about them. Even Predaking, who is pretty awesome, is still... pointless.

The technobots are set 20-something years in the future from 1984, so they were made to be "modern" vehicles. So while they look silly to us, they would at least make sense in the fictional future.

And I hear what you're saying about the post-movie characters... I liked the characters ok, but it really pissed me off that they had to kill off all the previous characters to introduce new ones. But regardless, it's hard to not like Springer. He's the Han Solo of the TF universe IMO.

I just always felt like the Pre-Movie characters had personality. Post-Movie, the villains were just empty caricatures of "villain". Galvatron was a pale shadow of Megs, Starscream was gone, and Soundwave was always sort of just robotic. As for the Autobots, Springer and Ultra Magnus seemed to be the only ones who had much personality who didn't annoy me to some degree. Kup was a boring replacement for Ironhide, although he at least had a little personality. It was just so "Grumpy Old Man" shtick that I tired of him fast. Arcee was remotely interesting, but I never liked the idea of female Transformers. Seemed kind of silly, for some reason.

Go back to Seasons 1-2, and all those early Autobots had a lot more personality, compared to the Post-Movie guys.

It's funny, I have more love for the '86 characters than I do the '85. I thought the second season guys were really lame. Most of the toys were bad repaints, but the part that bothered me the most was that they just appeared on earth with absolutely zero explanation, and suddenly they are taking over the whole show. It's hard to watch the first season and then suddenly get excited over episode after episode featuring Hoist, Powerglide, and Cosmos. WTF. I know Big-H needed to sell some toys, but it bugged the shit out of me. If they had organically introduced them like they did Dinobots or Aerialbots within the context of the show, I'd have liked them just fine. But for them to just suddenly appear and take over was uber-lame. It felt like the Coy and Vance season of DoH...

So as a result, I didn't mind the '86 movie characters showing up, as I was just glad that I didn't have to see Inferno and Grapple anymore! Springer, Magnus, Hotrod, and Arcee were a MAJOR improvement. I just didn't need the '84 guys to take a dirt nap.

You know, I guess I lumped season 2 into that. I broke out the DVDs yesterday and just got into Season 2 today. The first episodes are good, but as I recall, the later-season episodes turn awful.

I also forgot about the guys like Cosmos that I hated. I guess you're right, season one is what I meant.

Cosmos, Seaspray, Warpath, and Powerglide. Those four minibots dominated the second season, or at least got far more screen time than their lousy characters deserved. But all those second season guys got ridiculous accents. Hoist was British! Tracks sounds like Thurston Howell III. Seaspray has a mouth full of marbles. Not even Wheelie is THAT irritating. A good chunk of those '85 autobots are the jar-jars of the TF universe, IMO :)

Season one '84 guys are aces!

Yeah, those 4 I hate the most. I also dislike the weird space ship that turns into a dinosaur-ish thing. What the fuck was he supposed to be, like a Loch Ness monster/space shuttle?

I like Warpath's design, but the rest I had no use for. Their voices were annoying. I liked Tracks, but hated his d-bag voice. Not sure why they felt they needed to make their voices so ridiculous.

I really liked Beachcomber, for some reason though. I still want a modern update of him.

UGH! I hated him. Even as a kid, I hated Sky Lynx. Not only was he a dick, he grew to varying sizes to fit in anywhere from 2-40 Autobots (I realized that Skyfire did the same thing) and that bugged me, and he was some random Griffin/Lynx/Serpent thing hybrid, and I couldn't stand that either.

All around, he's perhaps my most hated Autobot from the cartoon series.

At least he turned into something useful and that was actually a disguise in alt mode... at least the shuttle portion. That lion and bird combo for a "bot mode" was just too weird. But his attitude was worse than his design. I agree, he was a pretty lousy character, and a poor Skyfire replacement (as far as size-altering transports go).

At least Skyfire and Skylinx were both large-scale toys. Poor Astrotrain went from looking at Megatron's belt buckle to a shuttle that could house the whole team!

How did this comment make it by without notice?

Anyway, I missed some good conversation...my fave part was nachos Coy and Vance comparison from Dukes...they showed up, replacing characters you already loved and cherished...all they did was make you resent them, like a new step dad replacing the real dad you once loved...exactly what happened in season 2 and after of TFs...they didn't just slip in new characters among the ones you loved and let them grow on you, they basically just pushed them aside and took over, making you miss your old friends, and resenting your new ones...

Exactly. Coy & Vance. The step-dad comparison works too! Except when you get a step dad, you at least know kinda why, i.e. your parents split up and that your mom has "needs"....

We got nothing in S2, not even a throw away line of dialog about "Oh, I'm glad Ratchet made us from shit lying about the arc" or "That ride on the space bridge from cybertron was worse than Space Mountain"... or just anything telling us where the f#$% these guys came from out of the blue and why.

The part about TFs that was really cool was the whole backstory and the characters they developed, not just that they were robots turned into stuff. The world-building was what separated them from gobots and all the other copycats of the time. By '85, they had forgotten all that, and so new characters we didn't know with no apparent backstory just fell horribly flat. Yeah, I watched the show, and I had several of the toys, but they never lived up to their predecessors.

So I finally broke down and ordered Hercules!

Woo Hooo!!!!

Also threw in a pre-order for MP Sunstorm as well.

Love his storyline in the Dreamwave series.
