Before anyone gets their hopes up with this post, I do not have the final product in hand. I decided to start a new thread because the old ones across the various Joe boards contain a lot of information and pictures that are no longer relevant.

Pictured below is the first test shot from the mold for the weapon set. There are 3 main problem areas at the moment. The factory is working on modifications to the mold to try to correct them, that will take one or two days. I hope to have a test shot in hand by the end of the week, and production beginning next week.

Looking at the picture, I am very pleased with the results. This is the first time I've seen these weapons in solid black, which is what the final product will be. I think they look much better than they did in white, clear, and the rough black from Shapeways.

What kind of production numbers are you expecting to run after the problems get fixed?

Oooo... injection molds! Been a long time since I've had any of those made.

Falcone,

If those few little problem spots are all that's wrong, consider yourself lucky!
And they look good, BTW.

I was bracing for the worst. The factory said before starting the mold that there could potentially be many problems because of the small sizes. The broken stock on the G36c is my main concern. If I lose the triggers on the other two guns, it will be a bit annoying, but I can live with it. A broken G36c would be very disappointing though.

I think they look great. I saw the samples Fogger had, and I was really impressed, especially with (my favorite), the FAL. They look even better in black. Good stuff, good stuff.

It really comes down to the manufacturer, IMO. Look at any 1:35th weapon sets, like from Tamiya for example. As small as they are, they're really good. It's all about how much the mold cavities can be polished. The more they're polished, the smoother the part, the better the parts release from the mold.

I had several similar problems with stuff I did years ago, including a few mold design snafus thanks to the idiot who setup the mold layout. You really have to be hands-on when doing this stuff. Sometimes decisions are made for you, with detrimental outcomes. And when you're paying big bucks to do it to begin with, any "problems" are highly aggravating... especially when they tell you "we can fix what we fucked up, but it will cost more money". :wtf:

Um....

The flaws just mean I'll have to baby them like Dragon's MP 40 with the extended stock.

For sirius, I want that M14 and FAL in multiples. If Kwinn was coming out that FAL would be part of a bitchin' Rhodesian SAS/Light Infantry custom.

Alas it is not to be.

The minimum order quantity was 3,000, so that is what I will be ordering. It may take a long time to sell them, but that's okay.

How much, and where is your website?

The four larger guns will be $1 each and the rest will be $0.75 each. My website is legionfourteen.com, but I've been pretty lazy about it and it sits unfinished. A direct link to my store is in my signature. The weapons will be added to the store as soon as I receive them.

Oh, I know, right? How come it's taken this long to get a figure in shorts?

That G36 when fixed, is going to be perfect for my Shock Troopers. I've got a few similar to these from the BBI sets but these look really nice.

Parts reuse potential is pretty low. Even lower than a suited figure I'd wager.
There are plenty of figures Hasbro could make in a suit, though many are probably too obscure for them to care doing. Matthew Burke, Joe Colton (first appearance), undercover Crimson Guard, "The President", and maybe even the Crimson Twins.

Think of all of the Jurassic Park figures they can make. Oh wait.
I'd kill for a movie accurate Robert Muldoon.

I've bought several weapons from Marauder's over the past few years and have been satisfied with them. But I gotta say that these are much more detailed than MGR's stuff. I hope that the few flaws that we see can be fixed. But if not, these are still fantastic looking. Can't wait to get my order in!

You know damn well none of those are gonna happen outside a club/convention exclusive setting, if at all. ;)

I just want to add I'm glad Low Light is finally gonna have a normal rig and not some damn anti-material/exotic "übergewehr". Thanks for that, Falcone.

I dream that those M1 carbines are gonna come home from Korea but I don't count on it.

Minor update. The missing trigger guards and broken G36c stock have been fixed. The MSG doesn't have a trigger, which was a terrible mistake on my part as the 3d model was missing it to begin with. But this is the finalized product and exactly what will be available.

I don't think it will matter once you've got it in a figure's hand.

They look awesome, Falcone.

Looks like I need to go trawl HT for some ancient Joe gun to build the scope.

Gettin' towards the end of the month, any word on a release date? :D

The mold polishing took longer than expected. It could still happen at the end of the month, but I wouldn't count on it. I love the Futurama GIF by the way.

Apparently I've had the test parts here since last week. They were inside the back door of my downstairs neighbor. These test parts are exactly what will be available so I will begin taking pictures, with size reference tomorrow in the daylight. Attached is a picture of one with a Trooper, it's dark but only a teaser picture. Here is a quick review of my overall impression now that I have them in hand.

The bad-

*The handles are a bit thin making it hard for vintage figures to hold the weapons. There are also a bit loose in modern figure hands, but can be held tightly. In future waves I will have to thicken the handles.

*The weapons seem kind of "flat". The small details are very difficult to see, unless the light reflects off them. Since they cannot be seen the weapons have a lot of large flat surfaces. The weapons overall are pretty narrow as well. I will need to make the details more pronounced in future waves to break up the surfaces.

*The trigger guards are fragile. A few came broken. I've put these weapons in figure hands and haven't broken any guards myself. It may be that they are actually sturdy and it's just the mold itself breaking them when the parts are pulled.

The good-

*The gun stocks and barrels are sturdy. This was a concern of mine since my Shapeways guns all easily broke at these points. I'm very happy how durable they are.

*The quality of plastic was also a concern of mine, as there was no real way to know what they would be like. The plastic seems to be of high quality as I've seen nothing visually wrong with it.

I think a lot of the guys deal with modern figures, so handling shouldn't be a problem.

Flat? That's what a good drybrush of silver is for!

So far, these all seem incredible!
