I've seen these things for some time now, but never could pull the trigger and get some to use. Well, finally got a bunch last week and went to work on a few things. So far, I'm really diggin' the potential of these things. Really cool stuff, so I thought I'd share.

Snake Eyes - with neck, wrists, and ankles modded

This -

Turned into this guy (on the right), wrists and ankles -

And then there's this guy. You've no doubt noticed a more complete version in the above background, but here's an earlier WIP shot. I'll post a seperate thread when I get him finished.

Holy Articulated Bat-Nipples, Batman! That looks much better then the default joint. Its a small addition, but highly significant.

What size are the joints? The link Keenan posted has a couple of different sizes. I've been interested in these for a while now too.

I'm using 4mm for the wrists, and 6mm for the ankles and elbows - on Batman. On Joe stuff, the 4 mm works well for ankles too, depending on the size of the boot/foot/whatever. Shock trooper for instance, can use the 6mm for ankles since the boot is thick enough in diameter. SE has thinner boots, so the 4mm worked better. Like anything, you just have to eyeball the part and see what will work for it.

Have you hypothesized how the double elbow joint might be used? I think I've got an idea if 8mm isn't too big.

I have a bag of the 6mm double joints, but they're a bit big for double joint use - on a Joe, imo. The 8mm are way to big for Joe. I was originally going to use the 8mm for Batman's new shoulders, but it was definitely too big, so I ended up using Microman joints.

Nice work...

re: casting - these are fairly cheap already so I'm not sure if casting them would really be cost effective in the long run. Then again, who knows.

I had some of these that I picked up from HLJ a while back, but looking through them it looks like most of them are too big. I did find a few that looked about right for elbows and knees... and I started cutting that Avengers Chitauri figure apart and putting them in there. So far so good.

I figure they're cheap but very limited in colors.

Also, these might help me design some of my own.
