What is the best way to make a press mold for pouches and such and what material seems to hold the best detail? I'm outfitting my blueshirts with a more appropriate look and while I have plenty of mag pouches, I don't have many that match.

I've used something called "Instant Mold" to make some pretty quick press molds. It's a rubbery stuff that you heat with water and it becomes pliable, make your mold and fill it with green stuff. The best part of the Instant Mold is that after you're done with the molds, just put it back into some hot water and you can re-use it. Good stuff.

What I'm currently trying out is using a water bottle cap, filling in with Aves Fix It (since I've virtually stopped sculpting), and making the press mold out of that. After it cures, I score around the edges a little bit so it will pop out.

I then repaint some vasoline inside it, making sure it covers the surface, but doesn't glob, then press some green stuff into it. It's about the size of a nickel so I pressed that on top and placed a weighted metal dowel from my dad's old tool making set on top of the nickel.

I think this should work alright as the weight should inhibit the greenstuff from shrinking out of the mold.

I remember looking for that on Dick Blick but they only had InstaMold which didn't sound like the same stuff.
