Does anybody have a decent walk through on sanding joints? I kind of want to have some sort of guide instead of going in blind. (yes, that can be used as a great eddieism)

no expert but what I do is use a very smal burr bit on my dremel and with the joint pushed all the way to one side carfully dremel the disc at 1/2 speed. then repeat with the joint pused all the way to one side. Then sand the disc to make smooth and remove any flashing caused by the dremel. After that I cut a sliver of the arm where the disc might rub. Knees I remove completely and shave of a sliver of each disc as well as a sliver on the lower legs. Paint and glue protect and its pretty much rub free.

Don't be afraid to cut the inner pegs of the shoulder and elbow joints and removing the arm and forearm completely. You'll be able to cut the little bit of flash on the inside of these pieces without harming or scratching up the joint pieces. You can then sand the joint pieces without harming the arms or forearms. I'll usually bevel a little bit of the edges of the joint pieces just to make sure there isn't much friction when the paint dries.

When I'm done, I'll take a 4-part nail polishing stick that has the buff and shine surfaces and smooth the joints to an almost factory surface. I'll also hit up the upper arm where the shoulder is hidden in the pit cavity of the torso. This area usually has some garbage from the mold and it's real easy for it to stick and scrape inside the pit.

After a degreaser or alcohol soak, you can paint them up, letting them dry completely, seal them, and they should hold up really well. When I haven't been lazy and did all of these steps, they typically turn out awesome.

It's tedious work, but I use an exacto to cut a thin sliver off of the inside of the limb, where it makes contact with the joint. With the contact between the joint and limb eliminated, I haven't experienced paint rub on my customs. It's just a tricky procedure.

I just fit it back over, kind of flex it so the peg in the hole is kind of exposed, drop a little glue, then squeeze and rotate.

I think meandnooneelse did a tutorial on it, not sure though. Sometimes, you don't have to even worry about gluing it, but it's always safe to do so.

I feel the same way. I've been doing this for 4 years myself and everyone acts like I'm an idiot. For a spell, anytime I wanted to agitate TTT, all I needed to do was suggest this and he'd come in and tell whoever it is to crack the torso instead.
