This is going to be one of the Rigs for the Green Coat Militia. Story will be; Old man Harry Vietnam Vet, who owns the local gas station bought and restored this bitch and it's always in the parades and now he gets to put her to use.

I agree Eddie, it sits a wee bit high. Haven't figured out if that will be the final web gear or not. The head is from the Angel Forge

It air dries, but temps will effect it. Heat will cure it faster... like putting a lamp over it. Don't boil or bake it.
Thanks Obi

Spent a good amount of time painting heads last night and by that I mean repainting eyes over and over and over. LOL

Nice trucks Rick, I have a Vamp and Ninja Cruiser waiting on me to paint and customize. Picked up a pack of Styrene at Hobby Lobby to add some stuff to them. Will be my first vehicle customs.

Shooter
This custom violates my number one rule of avoid painting at all costs since the entire figure will be painted. I decided to use a removable shoulder harness since the one molded into the figure is pretty weak. I took it and the belt from a DG Duke. I used several 25th 5-pack Joe Trooper bodies for customs and had several brown H-harness' left over. I transferred those harness' to the DG Dukes since they look more like basic infantry with an h-harness as opposed to a shoulder harness. I was planning on using ROC Scarlett for a Firewall custom, but since she wears a jacket I will be using different arms on her so I will be using those arms for Shooter. Deciding on arms took a long time. These ones aren't accurate since they don't have an upper arm pocket or sleeve cuffs, but the options for female arms were very limited. I had at least a dozen female figures in front of me as I labored over which arms to use.

Mantis Sub Commander (Sunbow)
This is a custom that I've wanted to do for a while and is actually pretty simple. The body and upper legs along with some detailing are all that really need to be painted. I will be cutting the sides of the should guard as well as opening up the middle of it a little more. I'm waiting on the head pictured from Broken Arrow.

Leatherneck (Sunbow)
Leatherneck is kind of difficult to determine what he's wearing. The original figure looks like a two tone shirt, but in Sunbow and on the cardart it looks like a vest. I decided to go with a vest. That way I can get the padded look for the lower body, and the BDU top for the upper body. I'll also be modding the vest enough to make it look different from Scrap-Iron. The best part of this custom is that I don't need to paint the base figure. In the picture you can tell the difference, but in person all the green matches. He is made using parts from 3 different figures. The only part I don't like is the lack of straps around the thighs. If I can find a figures that has straps and matches in green then I will use them. I don't plan on using the hat pictured. The 8 point caps in Sunbow are very pronounced so I will be sculpting points onto a VvV Gung-Ho removable hat.

Haha...that's kinda why I'm curious :)...I've not seen a SI vest used for LN...so I'm most interested to see how that turns out with paint

Very curious to see how all those turn out...very interesting parts choices...

All those dated parts! :proposetoast:

Just kidding, that sets off Falcone. :D

The Duke arms matched the 3/4 sleeve of Leatherneck from Sunbow and also matched the green of the BDU top from Rampage, so it was the natural choice. I might rework the hands to make them better and will also be opening up the elbow to get a 90* bend.

I would use fixed Duke arms. I actually don't have a problem with the aesthetics of the fixed arms, so long as elbow articulation is tweaked. Those slit wrists bug me to no end, though.

Yeah, so do I...it's nice to be able move the limbs and not worry about screwing up a custom you just spent time on...

Leatherneck finished!

Okay not really, but I wanted to test out color changing in Photoshop for making theoretical customs. Leatherneck was my test run.

Really would like to see ol' Leatherneck in "Highland" ERDL. Guess I'll add him to the list.

Gonna have to go and find more 21st Vietnam figures to sacrifice for kit.

please tell me you're not going to use the slit wrists.

The colors look great though!

Leatherneck looks good other than the slit wrists... I have a paint-free tutorial that shows how to fix Duke arms, while keeping the upper arm intact... You just need donor lower arm-hands from something like a TF Duke, an X-Acto, super glue, and patience.

Also, that cartoon hat looks a little funny. :proposetoast:

Visually I don't have any problem with the slit wrists. Add a few dabs of paint in them to lighten the line and they aren't any more noticable than any other joints on the figure. Functionally they suck, but cutting away in the elbow can give them close to a 90 degree bend. The point of using these arms is because they are the color I need them and they are also 3/4 sleeves.

The hat is a 30 second drawing in photoshop. The whole figure is just spliced together pictures from Yojoe.

I haven't done much customizing this year but I now have a few things on my workbench that I need to finish.

Any ideas on a torso similar to the 25th Viper but a little newer? Something PoC or later?

Pit Commando is where I'm leaning (and the softness of the sculpt would be lost under layers of paint, webbing and pouches), and the fact they have that skirt piece is great, but I really can't pull the trigger on the only two I have, and I dunno what they're doing on the secondary.

Better suggestion, if any?

I was just joking about the drawing. Here's how you can still keep the upper arms and get rid of the silly wrist, though:

Hey Rex, you should put that in it's own thread in the tutorial section. I'm sure some people will be able to get some use out of it.

That's the best part!! (IMO :))

But it's not gonna work for what I'm doing. Turtleneck + triple canopy jungle = Worst idea ever. :D

RoC Zartan could work. I'm not a fan of the pouch/holster on the skirt, though.

I couldn't bring myself to modify a 3-pack FF anyhow, and we all know Wave 3 isn't gonna show up. :(

Guess I'll go trawl HT for RoC Zartan or another Pit Commando.
