My stank-ass DGs haven't restocked. I was excited about wave 3, but it's just taking way too long to get them out. And we're still 4-6 weeks out from when they might start showing up. That is if wave 1 isn't cemented to your stores' shelves.

Wave 3? Typo, or did I miss something? Or did you jump from DG to big box retail?

I picked up DG wave 2 from BBTS once it was confirmed that their shipment was the recolors. I've got Retaliation wave 3 on preorder. Fuck retail, and fuck their shitty distribution.

What's sad is the best Joe figures I've gotten in the past 12 months were from last year's Joecon.

It's the shipping that gets you. On some of those, might as well pay the crazy price + free shipping on ebay. 2.99 and 7.99 to ship? Meh.

BBTS has the whole set for $32 ($5.33 each) plus shipping. If you already have a PoL going the shipping is negligible. If you don't want them all, it should be easy enough to unload them.

Not trying to pimp BBTS here, but for those without well-stocked DGs it's probably the most hassle-free way to get them, and at less than retail before shipping.

If you're looking to army build, it's probably a different story.

Behind a camera watching you!
BBRS & amazon have them & depending on hat you want & if you are ordering anything else you can eliminate/reduce the shipping. But its the only option if you don't have a DG. I have one but I am never in the neighborhood so I ordered my 2 wave 2 troops off amazon & it was worth it compaired to Gas driving around.

Just as a laugh, most of these figures on Viperskingdom have gone past the $30 mark. Data Viper is heading into the $50 range.

So much money for figures that will likely be arriving in a few weeks.

Bragging rights for something that no one will care about once they hit.

I've heard the "I just want to make sure I get one if they're cancelled" argument, too.

I admit, I've said that. But that was when I wasn't sure if they were planning to actually release the figures or not. (Like when the movie was pushed back a year and thus, so were all future waves)

But these are right on our doorstep, really. I used that excuse when wave 2.5-3-ish-1 was several months away. At 1 month, give or take, it seems like a dumb argument to make.

And it will be lovely when bragging rights turn into hilarity.

I'm reminded of the all black Retaliation CC that went for well over $100, IIRC, last year on eBay, only to be released within a month or so. I guess if you have the money and don't care to take the gamble, more power to you.

The end result of all the wave 3.5 auctions is ridiculous. Kwinn took the top end at $127.57, followed closely by SS($107). Firefly took the low end at 31 bucks. Average price per figure is $58.94.

Stupid.

And fast as VK has been in the past, I have to imagine that this is cutting it awful close, and I'm not even sure these people will get two weeks of bragging rights. At least a week to ship, if not more, and e-tailers are still expecting product next month.

It will be some kind of sweet, ironic justice that these idiots spent hundreds on a fucking figure that they will be able to buy down the street the same week/week following receipt of their hundred dollar factory reject.

Two posts from 'that place' defending the dumbass prices:

International fans, those who just gotta have the first "review" for their website, and people who have far more money than sense. Pretty much a mix of those 3 every time.

At least when I paid a bit more for a figure for review, it was complete, had all the accessories and didn't look like it was shat out of the mold and painted by someone with Parkinson's. I still fell into the dumbass category, but I also didn't spend THAT fucking much.

I got a 2nd Chance on the Combat Ninja for $25 and took advantage of it in the event Hasbro changes things around last minute and skips out on some level of detail or leaves out an accessory like they have done in the past. Not to mention in my area the retail toy hunts are so intense that the odds of me finding the Combat Ninja will have a 98% failure rate.

Now if someone wants to sell me the baby hisstank from Firefly I'll be golden from that wave!

So preorder it, shithead! Worried that some level of detail will get skipped, and you're buying a figure where some detail is skipped. Way to rationalize.

The best revenge (if you can call it that) will be when all these figures show up looking like they did at the Cons they were shown at. Full paint apps, and accessories, and these guys (which I admit, I have been one of but it was like XOC mentioned and for a review for a website) are left with a steaming turd of plastic....and STILL go buy the retail ones.

I've bought figures ahead of time and paid more, but the figures I bought were a) still pretty cheap (less than $15), b) more than a year from release and c) ended up being cancelled anyway.

$130 for a 4" figure that's coming out in a month is ridiculous. I don't care if you're international or "have to have it" for a review.

That would be nice, but I think there's a greater chance of these rational thinking-challenged auction winners having the last laugh.

And now I don't know which emoticon to use since it's funny and a bummer at the same time. So here is a monkey peeing.

How?

The only possible way for them to get the last laugh is if the entire wave was cancelled, suddenly, last minute.

With all the preorders already in place, I can't see that making any kind of fiscal sense for Microsoft.

I CAN see them maybe being delayed until August/September but even then.. they got what, a month or two of extra time with some flawed figures?

Color me unimpressed. (Not too dark though, I still want to be friends with Cloud)

Despite the pissing monkey being funny, I must disassemble and destroy your argument. :) The likelihood of these morons getting the last laugh is fairly low.

Like NSA said, the auction photos were pretty good. Good enough to see that most of the figures are incomplete in some way. Missing pieces, bad/missing paint apps, disfigured looking features(Budo), etc.

Even if it takes another month or two for them to hit retail, I'd rather spend 10-15(whatever the fuck they'll cost) on factory complete figures, than 100+ on factory rejects.

The ONLY way these mouthbreathers will get the last laugh is if the line gets canceled.

(Which NSA beat me to.)

I have an entire case on pre-order for less than what Kwinn went for by himself. Like you said, unless they're cancelled, no way.

I agree. My point was that we're not going to see retail versions with significantly different paint apps, and we're certainly not going to see them as they were presented at the cons (which were lovingly hand painted and detailed. Factory paint these days means aiming black paint in the general direction of a belt.) That's why I stopped Dre's quote when I did.
