Don't know about anyplace else for sure just yet, but my Dorksidetoys wave 4 order(Night Viper) has been listed as shipped. I've heard rumor that some other places had started shipping as well.

I've got one, but really don't want to use it. I could make do with a Combat Ninja but it's looking ever more likely to be a no-show at retail.

Yeah, I was gonna pull the trigger on my BBTS POL so it was waiting on me when I got home next week, but I have a wave 4 set of four that I'm waiting on being in stock, so I may as well wait a little longer...

So, while I haven't uploaded any pictures yet(and won't till the review), I can say that first impressions on the Night Viper is.. at least they made a decent attempt to appease the ARAH collectors and bring it into the modern age. The optics aren't fuck-you-ginormous like on the ARAH version, and I actually like the helmet and use of the Jungle Viper's head. I also like the color sticking to the original.

But I hate the legs, lowers especially, are bad. The uppers would be fine paired with lowers that worked better. The webgear is MARS officer hideous and the pistol he comes with stays in the holster only marginally better than the one the MARS officer came with. Look at it funny and it falls out.

I'll have more in depth to say later, obviously. I'll save the rest for the review. :D

I lied. Here's my WIP shot of unsucking the Night Viper. Step 1 was replacing the webgear with a raginspoon cast. Not sure what lower legs I should use to replace those. I'm leaning towards the AV lowers.

Don't foresee the AV ones looking good. Tried them on my DG Officer this weekend and was deeply disappointed.

Yeah, the AV lowers are way skinny. Almost to the point where they're useless outside of use on female customs. They look alright with RoC Destro's jodhpurs, but those aren't very Night Viper-y.

The H.I.S.S. driver legs might work if you're hell-bent and determined to have NV stuck in '89.

I love the ARAH figure. It simply did not translate into the modern era. Lots of folks are slobbering the figures knob, though.

Yeah. It's good, not great. I think it could have been way better. Especially considering all the parts they have to choose from. But! The helmet is pretty sweet. It's a much slimmed down version of the classic. The upper body choice is fine. I'm not sure if they could have gone a better route.

You can't come up with a better hunter-killer team than Hasbro's Night Viper?

Hope you don't plan on using the rifle that comes with it. I've yet to find a figure that will hold it even reasonably well.

I'll be honest... I never even knew the NV existed until a few years ago, when I heard HTers raving about how awesome he is. He was never in the cartoons as I recall, and I never had any friends or relatives who had him, so he somehow fell through the cracks in my Joe Universe of Knowledge. I simply do not recall ANYTHING about him. Same thing with the Techno-Viper.

So I'm not nostalgically attached to him like I am most of the other figures that I either had or didn't-have-but-always-wanted due to a cousin or friend having them. But I still think he's cool, and if they're going for ARAH remakes, they may as well pick the cooler ones like him versus some of the lamer Whatever-Vipers out there.

With that said, I'm curious to what you 2 work out, because ARAH-accuracy isn't a priority of mine on this figure with me, and I may copy what you guys figure out.

You know, when my Wave 4 shit comes in stock in like a month. :rolleyes:

I always saw the NV as being a more lone gun, than a fire squad type of troop.

That said..I might take a stab at making one as well...but with the Jungle Viper optics as I don't have NV to use.

The retaliation nv is a great update imo,I was lucky enough to get two of them.....my only gripe is the webgear/holster,it's not snug enough for the pistol.

Hah, Walgreens. I stopped by one the other day to pick up a wedding card for my friend and damn if they didn't still have a full peg of ROC rotting away.

Worth checking, I'm off work this week (and maybe next) and have a bunch of errands to run anyways.

By the way, just got an email from BBTS about my preorder of Wave 4. Apparently there was confusion over the Lady Jaye? I never assumed it was any different than the earlier LJ, but folks I guess ordered thinking it was a variant?

No word on them shipping the fucking thing, though, so I haven't shipped my POL yet. Still haven't gotten my Wave 3 because of that. I figured W4 would be in by now. Sigh.

My Hasbro pre-order says it ships 9/30, so I'm guessing that's when everyone else should be getting them.
