I've found rare earth magnets at Hobby Lobby.

Mr.Black, is that Lego sail material you used on that strap for the shoulder armor?

Got a 1:18 cabinet in the works, as I finally decided what to do with the Schleich nursery.

There are a couple of way to go about it, depending on which knee you want to use, and general leg design.

I've got a ROC Destro thigh/Obi -Wan boot hybrid here I can get a snap shot of.

Yeah that would be awesome. I'm looking at splicing a set of legendary Darth Vader lowers to poc recondo uppers. Can I use the star wars knees?

In my case I was able to. It will really depend how much plastic there is to work with on the Joe end of the equation.

What you're doing is replacing the knee bar with a cup to take the SW knee peg.

More or less what you do is take a dremel , hollow all the old joint out and take plastic off the sides of the SW knee joint so everything works more-or-less smoothly.

That's an interesting way to do it. In the past, I kept the knee joint from the Joe leg and then on the lower SW leg, just drilled out the "peg hole" sideways and then put a peg through it.

Same here...I've adapted the female Joe lowers in a similar way...the pilot Scarlett lower legs for example...won't see me giving up articulation without a fight...

In hindsight I would have kept the Destro knee and just did a boot swap.

Just got in my Cobrastickers order! And I finished cleaning off the Moray this morning and reassembling it, so I very well may sticker her up in the morning. Every broken bit on my Moray has been replaced or fixed, except for 2 tiny pegs on the hydrofoil slider arm, and despite actually finding the pegs, I don't think I'm going to bother. They snapped off cleanly, and don't seem to be necessary. And gluing them back on would likely be pointless as tight as that slider is anyways with the other 4 remaining pegs in place.

Only issue is that there's some slight discoloration on the gray hull, and despite cleaning it multiple times and polishing it with rubbing compound (boy, does that sonofabitch shine like new now) there's still some slight yellowing. I've read to sit it in a peroxide bath and set it outside in direct sunlight, but I have neither a tub big enough, nor a place outside my apartment to set it, but was wondering if anyone here had any tricks on how to remove some discoloration/yellowing on plastic?

If not, it's not a huge deal. You can only really tell it in direct sunlight or under bright lights, and even then it's not so bad since I cleaned it up.

Fuck that! I've nowhere to paint, besides the fact that I hate paint wear.

Figured out a solution from reading over at HT. They can be helpful! :D

Magic Eraser. Took out about 50% of the discoloration. I'm not about to invest in 15% peroxide and other chemicals and all the hassle involved with doing that over a toy... Then I polished the hull again with rubbing compound a few times, and it took out a wee bit more of the color. It's pretty faint now, enough that you can only tell when you hold it up to a light and look at where the factory stickers were. There's a slight hard edge, but nothing too bad.

I have no idea why I fell in love with the Moray so much. It's an awesome boat, too bad I never had it as a kid. Until I get my parts in from Fogger, and then the WHALE will likely be my favorite. But they're both damn cool vehicles.

OH SHAZBOT!

I have this figure that is sort of a self custom. The only thing I think it needs is a slight add-on to the hair and a repaint. I've kept from this final step and from calling it "mini-me" because I'm not sure that having a self-custom is right for me.

The head is from a DG Duke. I've been messing around with his outfit, trying different things. One of the things I tried was putting the Red Skull trenchcoat on him. Then I thought to myself, "he needs a book", so I gave him a Henry Jones Grail diary.
The legs on this figure are from a RoC Destro.

Can you picture where this is going?

-Jack boots
-black trench coat being worn around the shoulders
-grail diary

I just realized I'm just a few details away from a HITLER custom!!!

I don't know what that says about my looks...I never thought I looked like Hitler, I'm a bit too tall.

But seriously, if I add that tiny moustache, officers cap, suited upper torso and repainted the whole thing...

I feel all weird now.

Bought this piece the other day, $13.50. I will get another one next week so I'll have a nice 14in x 14in courtyard dio. I just gotta paint it. It has a cobble walk down the center.

One half makes a great Desk top dio

Want to do a scouting dio with my Oathkeepers Militia.

May have to hike the pieces in to a sweet location we found on a morning hike a couple weeks ago over looking a lake. I don't think I could do the scene justice in the dungeon.

Local store called the Hobby Bunker. They have a website. I hear them on the phone internationally all the time. They are really into the smaller scale stuff but have 1:18 stuff from time to time and I convert the 1:35 scale stuff for my use

Do any casting sites out there have a Spartan warrior type helmet? I could have sworn someone had one but I can't find it.

If nothing else works, Schleich has a Spartan warrior in 1:18 scale. The helmet is removeable when you heat up the head.

One of the Indy relics was a Greek (mostly Corinthian, I think) helmet. Should work for figures.

Ok, so I know as an adult collector, I'm a lot more anal-retentive than most folks, but I just finished the decal application on this Moray renovation... And dammit, Hasbro! Even with the vintage instructions and excellent Cobrastickers replacements, there are just some stickers that literally won't go where they say to put them (some molded object won't allow it) and they didn't even list the cockpit stickers at all!

Now, I'm an adult, so I used tweezers and took my time, but there are a TON of these damn stickers, and it took me 2 hours from start to finish to do them all cleanly. I just know that there were either a lot of kids who said "fuck it" and tossed the sticker sheet halfway in, slapped them on haphazardly, or there were some dads who had to help their kids put the stickers on who wound up hating their children by the time they were all put on.

Vortious has a GREAT spartan kit...I'm VERY tempted to get one to convert Hercules...

Great? It's awesome if you want to do comic Aries, not so useful if you want to do a Spartan.

I said Spartan, not that homoerotic comic/film fantasy.

Working on more paper products. Attempting to replicate a daguerreotype, did some maps of Australia and Tasmania, and a print out of a shot of Weimar Republic Germany's Kim Kardashian, which I may paint over.
