I'd like to make a customized Roadblock, like the one in the "Military Figure Customs" forum here, but taking the head from the Renegades Roadblock figure and placing it on either a Retaliation Battle Kata Roadblock body or a Retaliation Ultimate Roadblock body. The RB shown as mentioned above has a different head but on a Retaliation Ultimate RB body.

The problem is matching the dark brown skin tone perfectly on the exposed arms and neck, or, at the very least, damn close so it won't be noticeable.

I went to a hobby shop today to check out the brown Tamiya acrylic paints but nothing seemed to come close. I want to use acrylic paint and not enamel.

If anyone can suggest a paint brand and color I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

I recommend testors model masters. Best thing I can come up with is grabbing a bottle of paint that looks close, and try mixing in some more to reach the desired color.

Yeah, don't use Tamiya. It won't bond to the plastic. Model Master Acryl is the paint to use on figures. "Dark Earth" might be a good match. Just remember you want "Acryl". There is also an Model Master "Enamel", which you do not want.

Also, you could just swap the legs and vest from Retaliation Roadblock onto the Resolute RB torso. He wouldn't have the t-shirt but you'd only need to paint the pants.

OK, thanks for the suggestions/info. Much appreciated!

Not knowing any better, I've been using Tamiya acrylic paints for the past few years on my Joe and Cobra figures, and have had to touch up spots on occasion. I just figured it was the cost of customizing and not being able to use the same paints as Hasbro has the luxury of using.

I might have to try Burnt Umber or Burnt Sienna.

Your best bet, regardless of what brand you use, is to just repaint the entire figure, wherever the skin is exposed. Personally, I would recommend Reaper Master Series. I get a ton of commissions for the Sgt. Slaughter head cast that I sell, to be painted to match the Roadblock body from wave 1 and they have a color that matches 99% (not sure which one it is, but I have it written down and I can check for you) but like I said, the best thing to do is to repaint all the skin tones the same color, even if you find a color that matches close.

Burnt Sienna is far too red.

I haven't tried Reaper yet. How does it compare to Model Master for bonding to the plastic.

You may want to try a Vallejo color, with the caveat that you will need to base coat with Model Master and give the Vallejo ample time to cure. Mix the hell out of it, too.

It's good paint, but takes a bit of work for optimal performance.

I found a color chart online for Model Master Acryl paint and the Burnt Sienna looks more brown than red, so that's why I said that. I'm sure that up close and personal it'll look more red than brown. Stuff like that never really looks right online as it is.

Hopefully the few hobby shops around here carry Model Master Acryl and have something that'll be satisfying.
