:D

I'm not a fan of the fixed foredeck guns. I'm not sure what compels Joe customizers to do those, but it almost never fails. "Doin' a Cobra gunboat? Umph, gotta put fixed guns up on the bow!"

Other than that, you already know I'm digging it.

Yeah, I was unsure about those anyway. I'm thinking of doing the gun/shields with one center foredeck, and then two just in front of the seats and rail mount them to preserve some room on deck.

Also don't know if I should start all the way forward with the ropes, or start them further back where the deck starts off straight rather than the incline.

Might convert the fixed guns into exhausts for the engine.

Update isn't anything major. I got rails and such fitted so I can keep from scratching it up after painting, and got the ropes temporarily attached so you can see how they look.

Plus, it's a clearer picture using my actual camera.

Engine/housing and twin fans. With some careful trimming and a bit of heat I fit the center vane control to the two inside vanes to control all four:

That is the back third of a water moccasin(sting raider) top shell with the fans/vanes from two.

And this is exactly why we need that new EEL. Looks really good so far, bro.

Thanks!

My main goal is to have a crew of 5(Driver, 3 Gunners, Engineer), which would be my updated Copperhead and 4 CCNs(I think they are fitting as Cobra Marines), and then a few Eels for underwater ops. So, either the Eel comes out or I buy some shitty Wave 3.5 Snake Eyes and turn them into Eels. :D

All this excitement and drama. You'd think I'd have to find some way to get this thing cast and make a kit or something.

Update:

Cut out a lot of the standoffs for the RC parts, apoxy and some patience to fill in those holes. Fitted the engine and fans to the deck, threw everything back together for pictures. I DID end up using the fixed Moccasin guns as exhausts, and I need to work on bits and pieces to throw under the engine housing to fill up that space. I am also undecided on the access on the foredeck using the PTE panel from the patrol boat.

Just waiting on guns now! Then I can start on paint, etc.

The twin fan/single engine setup looking okay? I don't know if the engine section looks big enough to drive the two fans. But at the same time, if I say it's like.. a Rolls Royce V12 driving those fans, it actually sort of works.

UPDATE!

Guns came in. Decided to go with two M2's at the front, an m134 and MK19 at the rear. Just pics of the guns right now. I'll probably not have them mounted to the airboat till sometime after the holidays are all packed up.

There's some paint to do, some visible glue to hide, and a bit of a lean to fix, but all in all, I'm pleased with how this is turning out.

The MK19 is BBI I think. The m134 is VvV/Spytroops Roadblock with the Ultimate Roadblock M2 spade grips. And, the M2 is the Ultimate Roadblock M2 with the BBI ammo can and barrel, and Ult. Roadblock suppressor:

C&C welcome as usual!

I lied. I mounted them to the airboat:

Quick question for those of you following this. I've just cut the deck open and am grafting the PTE Zodiac's storage compartment onto/into the airboat. Should I have it stick up a little like on the Zodiac, or should I try and make it more flush with the deck?

Sticking up seems like it'd look cooler, but sticking up is also a trip hazard...but no one is actually gonna be walking on it, so I say mimic the zodiac

I think I have to agree with you. I think it will also be far easier to fix it in place with it sticking up a bit vs. flush.

Small update:

One shot of her full crew, Copperhead and 4 CCN's as Cobra Naval Infantry/Gunners, plus two shots of the storage compartment cut into place.

Other than the storage contents not being "secured" this thing is rocking. Too bad Hasbro can't buy a clue.

Yeah, I need to find a way to have the contents secured in some way. Anyways, no pics, but I apoxied the storage into place, apoxied all the screw holes I can get to, and will probably give it a light sanding some point soon before I break out the primer. Gotta find something that won't deteriorate with water so I can drop this in my pool for pics when it's done. Any suggestions?

Krylon Fusion as a base with Model Master over it. Probably be a good idea to clear coat as well. I don't foresee this spending real-world amounts of time in the water, but give all the paint ample time to cure just the same.

I'm certainly not leaving it there indefinitely or anything, not by any means! Just enough to snap some pics and have it survive. Thanks for the tip!

If it's not being used like an R/C boat then normal vehicle painting procedures should be fine.

Overhead cellphone shot:

As you can see, I'm at 6 'seats' now. Armament is the two M2's, and then the MK19 at port, the minigun at starboard.
