Advice for buying toys in 'Murrica

Hey guys,

I just booked a 2 week trip to california/nevada/arizona for June.

I was just wondering what the best shops for potential Joes, Star Wars, MU, Elite forces etc etc?

I've seen threads on Pisstank about walgreens? CVS? Dollar Stores?

I know Walmart and Toy R Us is a givun, but where else should I hunt?

I'm actually excited as you literally can't buy decent 1/18 figures in the UK!

I hate to say it but its a really, REALLY bad time to be trying to buy anything GI JOE or 1/18. NONE of the stores around me (CA) carry anything, and haven't for some time. You might find some Marvel Universe (and movies) or Star Wars hanging around.. but even that is suspect.

You might see if you can order something from HTS (HasbroToyShop.com) and have it shipped to your hotel/wherever you're going to be staying. The $9.99/figure price is better than most retailers and they have stuff in stock.

Otherwise.. just search around, you never know what you'll find, but don't be expecting the world. If you came a couple of years ago..

Local toy shows, lol.

Toys R Us if you want some nerf guns and/or armor. Maybe a Eagle Hawk or two or a lone RoadBlock here and there.

Walmart if you want diabetes

Target if you want anything else besides GI Joes

Meijer actually still has Retaliation Joes, and the other day, the one I saw them at had them for $7, sadly it was wave one or two only.

Some smaller rite aid/CVS/Walgreens have had them.. but it's hit or miss... to me, not worth it.

Some Dollar Generals still have theirs for $6

Like some have said, online is your best bet.. but not sure how that would work with an international credit card... maybe paypal? Not sure.

I would say get online and start doing searches for toy shows and local toy shops in those areas. Big box stores aren't going to provide much, aside from Marvel movie lines and maybe the new DC 4" figs.

Let us know the cities you are going to visit (saying you're going to CA is like saying you will be on the east coast from the Carolinas to New York) - hell I was talking with Fogger in passing conversation on Facebook when I was in Dayton, OH and he let me know about this local store that had 1:18 BBI jets on the shelf for sale. Never would have known it was there if not for him.

Give us some more info, you'd be suprised what we know or can find out.

If you go to Mesa, AZ, you can stop by Monkey Depot's showroom. They should have some old 25th Joes and maybe the latest 1:18 F-86. Otherwise they're mostly a 1:6 outfit.

Walgreens around me seems to have deleted their pegs...Walmart doesn't carry joes,neither does Target or TRU. The only place Ive seen joes on the pegs locally is dollar general(mostly CC&ship wreck),and a discount chain called Fred's(all wave 1&2 retaliation)...sad days...

I think most of the CVS, Walgreens, and other drug stores have clearanced them out so you're lucky if you find anything. Try looking for a 5 Below, Ross, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, TRU, or Dollar General for best results.
