I'm open to suggestions on how to get the proper shape.

And don't tell me to cut it in halves and putty it back together because I WILL lose my mind at the mere mention of such.

You could always cut it in two and reattach back together? Have you thought of that?

Well if you look at their SDCC pics, there are different variants so I wouldn't be too concerned about it.

Dude, just cut it in half and put the parts back together.

You could totally cut it down the middle and glue it back together.

You should have known that was going to happen

You'd be wrong, as I have one sitting right in front of me, and if anything it might be small. I seem to recall the CM pressure suit being quite large.

Doesn't that massager fit your entire palm? Or is it a mini version? If so, then maybe it would work.

So I'm not wrong per se, just misguided by inadequate information.

Why don't you like painting flesh? I only ask b/c I have never seen a flesh colored cast that matched the skin tone of a figure. If you'd like, I could give you some pointers in painting flesh tones.

Something about the flesh being painted and the majority of the figure being plastic? Idk. Yeah,I can't find a good flesh tone locally, and I don't have a large color palette to work with right now for mixing...great cast too! I feel paint takes from the detail, and he captured it very nicely too! One of the better casts quality wise I've gotten.

I pretty much repaint the entire figure when I do a custom, and I tend to think that paint brings out detail better than bare plastic. Especially, if you use dry-brushing and/or washes. Paint gets rid of the sheen of the plastic as well, as long as you're using flat instead of semi-gloss or gloss paint. I've gotten to where I do thin layers of about 3 different colors for my skin tones, and don't mix as much as I used to.

Just trying to give you another option :).

If you do it right, you don't have to be afraid to handle them (I take precautions to eliminate paint rub), and depending on how you paint them, they can look just as crappy as they do out of the factory or as detailed as you want them.

I do appreciate the suggestion K, but I don't think it's smooth enough.

That

DSBob... what style are you going for? Just out of curiosity, since I googled "Ma. K" and saw a crap-load of different heads.

Something like this. Only without the canopy on mine being blended in and the opening being in a different spot.

Why not just use less of the egg top? Almost like the exact opposite of what you did used.

I think the main problem with cutting it down further was that it would end up with it's "nose" pointing into the air.

hmmmm... looks like you really only need a lid, not really a bulbous one either. maybe some type of GI Joe hatch?

But I thought the overall idea was that the egg part is to big? If I use a hatch, wouldn't that simply make the opening flat?

Or am I misunderstanding you?

My 2 cents...

The egg used is too big for what you're trying to do. What to use? Not sure at this point, unless you did some major sculpting to blend the front into the torso.

As for a hatch... I'd take a 2nd egg and cut out the hatch, then cut a matching hole on this one. (or just use 2 new ones)

There are details you'd need to add though, like a lip for the hatch to lay on.

What I was trying to say is, if you look at the hatch on the model you showed, it doesn't go out that much more than the area that your hatch is at already... so if you just used a small section of the edge of the egg(probably the part you cut off), it could look okay.

See... not that bad, totally better than the other option like you had it...

Joe, that looks like a penis! :lmao:

I see what you mean now though.

Obi, I did do a bit of work blending the egg parts together to get them to what I thought was the proper size and shape, but it's nothing I can't un-do if I'm careful.

The problem now is finding plastic eggs. Most of the ones I have are extremely small and of no use, and with Easter long past, I have to wait till next Easter for better options.

Which really cheeses me off.
