It really is a shame. SO was the one i was looking forward to. At this point I'd just rather go without than pick up one of two bad choices. Same reason i won't bother voting.

You do know you can skip a section when voting right?

I know I've seen Wheeljack's KO accessory. Are there any others?
I would really like to get that Bumblebee jetpack and that Reflector from gold Megatron.

So I got that oversized KO of MP-08 in the G1 color scheme, but of course Grimlock's hands suck. Got an adapter kit and KFC hands meant for "Delta Magnus" or whatever:

Hands!

Damn these dudes are big.

Dinorobrofist!

QC is pretty good on him to be honest. A few loose bits here and there but not enough to make him wobbly.

I also got KO Grimmy, the hands, and adapters - just arrived monday. However they're all still in the box as I've been swamped.

Glad to hear that he's ok. Some reports surfaced that the black version wasn't as high-quality as the original blue version, so I'm pleased you are happy with him. Hopefully I will be too.

Hands easy to install?

More difficult to remove the old ones than to install the new ones. They just push right on after the adapters are in place. There's no 'pop' of the ball joints though, so just push till they stop moving, give em a few turns to make sure they don't come loose.

I'm in the same camp as you with Spinout. Hoping for a decent one but he's just gonna stand on a shelf so the fact that he looks better than daddy-long-legs McDuckfeet is reason enough to get him. I hope TFS gives me some store credit back since I used mine to purchase SO at a discount anyway, considering all these other places are cutting his price.

Watched a couple vid reviews of Spinout. His cheaper price is looking more and more tempting. Sigh.

I didn't realize he'd been discounted at other stores. I stupidly shipped my BBTS POL yesterday so he's on his way at $90. Bullshit BBTS didn't reduce him. If he's janky at all I may just return him. Although my Sunsurge's foot/hood broke right out of the box, so I consider that one fragile too.

Good luck. Most retailers are refusing to take returns if he's all jacked up. ;) From the reviews I've seen (which is a total of 2), it's nothing some future and tightening of screws can't fix. But I can't complain cause I only spent 74 bucks on SO thanks to a lot of Sourcepoints turning into store credit.

I'm just entertained by all the:

KFC IS SO BAD OMG WTFBBQ

I own a few of their tape-bots and have no issues. Sure I've seen some complaints about KFC hands breaking, but that's cause we're hamfisted man-children who insist on treating collectibles like toys and throw them around.

And fuck both those Blitzwings. If they could combine the two.. Gewalt's jet and Ditka's tank, with either bot mode... perfect.

Got my discounted Spinout from toydojo today. I opened the box and he looked fine, sufficiently hefty, nothing fell off, like any other 3P bot. The wheels do look really cheap, but in bot mode, I'm not likely to care. It's clearly not a FT-quality product, but it doesn't scream dollar-store either. Maybe I'll despise him when I transform him tonight, but so far, I'm not feeling the hate.

XTB's Wheelie... is a fiddly little design that had to be modded straight out of the box to even get him in robot mode. He looks great now though, and I don't regret buying him at all. But since then, those brands have improved significantly. I have Transistor, Apollyon, and Andras from KFC/XTB, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with them. Andras is solid as a brick, probably the best figure I bought last year.

I'm leaning to Ditka on the Blitzwing front. The jet air intakes are a little wonky, but the bot and tank modes are superior to the DX9 figure IMO.

I find all the Sunsurge defenders funny as hell. That fucking figure... I mean, he looks like Steve Urkel wearing some yellow pants, plus the giant duck feet. His proportions are all out of whack.

I'm worried about the quality, sure. But I'm also buying it to support the damn designer who likely got fucked in this whole process.

Edit: Side note: It's not the intakes on Ditka that bother me. It's the fact they are still trying to evoke some spirit of the MiG-25 that BW is "supposed" to be, and they have the whole cockpit section down instead of in line with the top of the rest of the fuselage, and I can't get past how fucking wrong that looks.

Sunsurge = "Steve Urkel"... I've said that myself. Duck, stork.... and that derpy face. The people that jumped on that thing early are desperately trying to justify their purchase. They're giddy that Omni is having problems. They just hang out in the spinout thread smugly taking pot shots, as if spinout having QC problems somehow makes the competing design any less horrible. There are a few of those trolls I'd like to punch in the jewels.

Maybe I'm seeing the pics wrong, but Ditka's air intakes appear to be really low... whereas on the G1 toy, they were roughly in-line with the rest of the plane and the top of the cockpit. Maybe we're saying the same thing, I dunno. Either way, it looks off... but the tank and bot couldn't be more perfect. 2 out of 3 wins the tie in my book, especially when bot mode will be 99.999% of it's life.

Yeah, no matter the QC issues, Spinout's design is far superior.

Yes, intakes are low. Cockpit is low. Too low. Haha. Same thing. And yeah, while mine would also be in bot mode most of the time, I'd love to have the jet mode look as great as they made tank mode look. But I could live with the fucked up intakes if the cockpit was at the right position.

So, I unpacked Spinout, and here are my thoughts:

- transformation is fairly intuitive but a bit fiddly
- had to tighten one of the screws that hold one of the front wheels, no big deal (they aren't designed to roll, fyi). The cheap looking wheels are one of the only complaints I have that isn't build related.

- scariest part of transformation is the legs (watch a video!), as the instructions imply that the lower legs slide down when it's really more of an unfolding motion at the back of the knee than a straight slide. I pulled one of the feet off trying to force it to slide, but it snapped back on, no harm no foul.

- hip/shoulder joints could be tighter, but he can hold poses just fine as is. I'll likely future them, but it's not a necessity by any stretch.

- tabbing the chest into the neck-base is the only really irritating part of the transformation. fiddly for sure.

- neck ball is somewhat awkward, but it functions as it should.

- the default helmet is growing on me, and I really thought my first act would be to swap it out for the more squarish one. who knew.

- all the complaints about his chest being too wide are pure nonsense. Next to sideswipe, he's still skinny. His waist is wider than Sideswipe's, but his chest is not as big.

All that being said, there's no denying that he's a great looking bot, and at the discounted price, I don't regret the purchase in the least. He will get exactly zero votes for figure of the year just based on build quality, but he's still the best looking Sunstreaker on the market by a country mile. Even with the obvious flaws, I'm very happy to have him in my collection and on my shelf.

I'm going to post this "over there" and watch the pitchforks come out :D

Got mine. No real issues. Some panels needed glue. Hips will get futured to tighten up their outward movement. Forward and back is nice and stiff. The silver panels tab securely. I may trim the back of the thighs where the meet the swivel joint to get some better outward posing when standing. Is he a 90 dollar collectible? Not really. He could be better. Do I regret buying him? Not in the least.

How anyone could see SS as a superior looking figure to SO is a mystery to me too. I think you guys are right...no one actually does. But some of them can't swallow their pride and feel they have to defend their poor, impatient, knee jerk, "Gotta have a Sunstreaker now!" decision.

One of those videos (The Choosen Prime one IIRC) had a side by side of SS and SO. SS looked so comical. More like a CHUG than a viable "MP" figure.

As for Blitzwings...I was originally leaning towards Gewalt. His bot mode looks amazing. So chunky! I liked that he looked less toon-y. But once the alt pics were show, he suddenly became very unappealing. I'm certain thats why they held back releasing them for so long.

Both figures jet modes are passable on the same level. Gewalts tank, however, is pure trash. Ditkas is just flat out awesome. Eager to see it in color.

About to bite the bullet and buy Quakeblast. Looks like my patience paid off since he is the best looking to me with his bulk and turns out he is the cheapest by quite a bit. Finally I get my favorite Decepticon.

Really? He looks roided out or something. "Laserwave" is by far not great, but Quakewave also hasn't aged well. I wish I could find something in-between the 2 of them, but QB isn't anywhere near what I'd want out of a Shockwave.

He strokes my nostalgia rod for the old bulky toy the most out of the 3 of them. I'd buy the official one (pimp boots and all) if it had been a dark purple. I just can't deal with the faggy pink of the Takara or 1st run Quakewave. Real men do not play with Easter candy colored toys!

A 2nd run QW would be nice, but not $40 nicer.

I have a 1st run QW, and I jumped all over Quakeblast. First of all, he's a steal. Second, he's by far the best looking Shockwave of the bunch. He's supposed to be large and imposing. He's the right color. He has the right feet. He's got a better shape with his wider chest and narrower waist. Even the translucent chest piece is more correct. QB FTW.

That being said, the TT version is the worst. I was happy with original QW for several years, as he was the only option, but happily replaced him when something better came along.

But TT.... they took the color and short stature from the toon and combined it with the ridiculous feet of the toy. It's like they attempted to take the worst feature of every iteration and cram them into a single toy. QB went the other direction, and really showed up the official figure. TT used to be a slam dunk winner by default. But damn, those days are long gone.

It was seeing QB in gun mode with the solid barrel piece that cemented the decision. He's just so damn big and chunky! It would be cool to buy the add-on light kit for him, but I know I'd never get the soldering iron out to actually install it. It'd take lights AND sound to get me to put forth the effort.

He's just too angular and too detailed for me. Not as feature-less as the TT attempt. But too much. Aside from the incorrect legs, I still think I prefer Quakewave. But to each his own I guess? :)

And also, isn't Andras candy-colored? He has pink nail polish!

I finally caved on him yesterday. I had some store credit (canceled TWs constructicons) so i thought "why not? It's a good deal.". I hate his very forward head placement, but i WILL fix it. Get out the styrene and add an additional joint if i have to.

Even though I bought Sunsurge, I much prefer Spinout. The head has got to have a fix to set it back farther on the shoulders.

I guess Surge will be cool on my work desk or something. With him broken, I doubt I'll be able to sell him and break even.

Since pretty much all my figures are in bot mode and generally stay that way, I may go ahead and do some minor surgery to ol' SO so he stands a bit straighter. He might not transform anymore when I'm done, but he'll still be poseable, and that's the important part. Unless some fix show up that is. I hate that he's all swaybacked and shit, though an easier fix might be to change where the soft ratchets are positioned in the hips.

So defensive those who made a bad decision are.

Even though I bought Sunsurge, I much prefer Spinout..

You just couldn't have said that at TFW in the SO thread so i could make point, could you?

Jerk. :pirate:

Want to get rid of his spare wheels? Wondering if they'd be able to be modded onto SO. I really dislike his cheap looking wheels.

Well I don't have him yet. FedEx is supposed to maybe-deliver it tonight.

My driver sucks. He either breaks shit, leaves it in random places around my building, or doesn't even bother to buzz the gate and inputs deliveries as "owner not home" and just skips the address.

Also, I'm gonna try the wheels thing myself. Undetailed wheels are a shame.

I thought about just buying a KO MP-12 (or repaint thereof) and doing a full wheel swap.

In the end, I'll likely make some mods that prevent transformation. The figure will be rock solid, but it won't turn into a car anymore. Since mine display as bots, I likely would never notice.

I was figuring on using my KO Tigertrack for just that.

I've already figured out how to improve the shoulder articulation. I just need a sharp blade and my son to chill out long enough to let me do it. The intended motion is actually there, but for some reason they molded it in a way to prevent the outward movement:
