It was pretty simple. Just cutting off the piece that prevents the motion and reattaching it exactly where it is, but inside the moving part instead of the rest of the shoulder. The balljoint retains all its previous motion. It's just tedious cutting such a small piece.

Edit: Both shoulders are done. Obviously it's not a perfect solution since I'm relying on a tiny piece of plastic that's now lost some structural integrity, and glued in place to make the ball-socket whole again. But, until there is a replacement piece available that has the articulation present, it's the solution I found. PLUS, as a bonus, it doesn't affect transformation. So if I wanted to transform him again (I don't), I could (but I don't).

The Datsuns are 1:28-1:29. Considering the MP Lambos are are out of scale on the larger side, the 1:24th might work?

But yeah, $27 shipped isn't too bad at all for a KO. Kinda bad for just wheels, though. Especially when it makes that sweet deal of a figure turn into a $100 figure.

MR has the best option. A whole spare set of wheels just lying around his place collecting dust.

1:24 would be way too big, they are pretty close to an inch in diameter. You could always go wander the aisles of a Hobby Lobby or Biglots to see if they have something close on those cheap ass toy cars they always have.

Got my bbts order. Spinout was missing his (left) US driver side wheel assembly straight out of the box. Sigh.

So the front wheels, are those on sliders or what? The piece missing is everything including the wheel that attaches to the wheel well (where there are 2 apparent sliding tracks).

Wondering if I should ask for a part or complete replacement, as the rest of the figure so far doesn't seem to have many issues in car mode. (But I didn't bother transforming it.)

Weird, the 3 wheels I had all spun. Really bummed as I was excited to finally get him. I'm not a big fan of SunSurge at all. Especially since mine broke. But 3 wheels ain't ok! ;)

Forager seemed ok, although I didn't take time to transform him. Stomp is still nestled in his box. I didn't have time to take him out, but I'm saving the biggest reveal for tonight I guess, haha.

My front wheels would spin too.... right off the end of the screw.

Mine's a bot and never going back, so I just don't really care. Even if I swap out the wheels with a KO, I'm not sure I'll bother with all four, just the two on the feet.

Forager is in my PoL with the first three Machine Robos (GOBOTS!). It'll likely be a while before I ship that stash. I'll at least wait for XTB's Cyclonus that should be out in a month or two.

The next item to drop in my POL is Willis, who is set for June. I've got nothing else till FT Grinder so I'll probably ship Willis when he comes in.

BBTS got back to me, I gotta ship the entire figure back. Boo.

In the SO thread, someone just drilled out the cheap factory wheels, and they look substantially better. I still like the idea of chrome donor parts from a KO, but they'd be more expensive and more trouble to install than just drilling.

Drilling was actually my first inclination, but then i thought about MRs spare wheels and our ideas snowballed from there. I started thinking replacement wheels might be cleaner.

The front wheels are each screwed onto a little bracket that snaps in place. They really don't roll at all... WTF Mattel!

(Yes, I know this isn't mattel... that was for Eddie ;) )

YES! :lmao:

So apparently Forager snaps his arms off or some shit? What're these nerds doing ham-fisting these figures? I mean I'll probably jinx myself now but goddamn, handle these things like the $100 collector items they are. I have no idea how people are wrenching off entire limbs and shit.

The hell? I don't think I've ever broken a TF in my adult life. I own the most "fragile" and reviled figures (Ollie, Kronos, Apollyon, Salus, Gundog, etc) and not once have I ever broken anything. No, I don't transform them frequently. No I don't take them out into the sandbox or use them for batting practice, but the idea that these should be the same durability as a tonka truck is moronic.

There are a few I wanted to break (FP Stunticons), but it's never happened. If it ever does, I'll likely blame myself, glue the fucker back together, and go on with my life.

TT is now releasing Shockwave with a new accessory, same as they did Ironhide. I didn't buy either of them, but if I had, I'd be pretty pissed.

"Hey hardcore pre-order fans and early adopters, we know you just bought this figure six weeks ago, but we've already improved it and added additional accessories you won't get. So unless you want to buy it again, fuck you! Happy collecting :)"

It's like they are trying to train their most loyal customers to NOT buy their products and wait for the extra goodies a short time later. :wtf:

No word on what the accessory is?

I haven't fallen for any of the double-dip accessories so far. None have been worth it except for maybe Bumblebee's face and jetpack, but I just couldn't care enough to bother. At least with him you get a "different" figure.

(Ok I guess I got Soundblaster for Ratbat.)

Yeah, it's a megatron in gun form, but I'm sure it's 10% smaller than the one we all have 20 of from shelves full of seekers. No doubt they made it slightly different to make it desirable. I can't imagine that anyone but the "gotta catch 'em all" crowd will double-dip, but it's still a dick move by TT.

I just went for the KO ratbat. It's quality is questionable, but it looks fine, and it cost less than $20.

Well, I didn't buy it. My ex got it for me as a bday present when I literally couldn't think of anything else I wanted at the time. I've considered the KO and just selling the SB set complete. Just been lazy. ;)

Especially because you KNOW they knew way ahead of time what they were doing. Not like they just thought of it now.

Just another reason i couldn't give a rats patootie about buying 3rd party or KO's. Zero loyalty to a$$holes.

Got Apollyon. Pretty happy with him. It's a "V2" version, so just wondering if there's anything I should be looking out for? I don't really plan on transforming him, because I think a giant gun is stupid, and if I want to play with "mass shifting" I'll just put the tiny gun megatron I have into someone's hands. Most of his accessories are in the box and put away, but they are nice to have.

I swapped the shoulder sockets when I got my V2, but I have no plans to transform him either. The original sockets weren't bad as they seemed to hold a pose, but the replacements are tighter and will likely not droop over time.

All the teeth-gnashing over this guy is complete internet troll horseshit. He's a great figure.

Oh he's fantastic looking. I only have 3 major Decepticons vs all my Autobots (minus UW Devastator which will be MP-like with upgrades), and Apollyon brings the badass level to 100 with QB and Soundwave. Oh, Exhaust is there too but whatever. (Eventually I plan to get the Badcube insecticons, if people buy all my Generations/Prime/Etc shit.)

ARG!!!!!

My KO Ratbat's quality is fine. I'm sure I wouldn't be able to tell a real one and the KO one apart.

I doubt there will be any KO Ironhides. With Tracks onward they have moved production to Vietnam. Has anyone heard of any KO Tracks yet?

Yep, and they improved it to have rubber tires. KO tracks is supposedly superior to the official release all around.

My KO ratbat is fine too (I think I had one part come off during initial transformation, but it snapped back in place). The biggest problem is that he's supposedly just a hair larger than the official figure and he can get stuck in soundwave's chest if you aren't careful. I've never put him in, but I don't plan to either. He'll stay a bat-rat-thing.

Why bother buying official product these days? I can't tell my KO's from my Takara ones unless I look for the stamps in the plastic or I buy an unofficial color. My KO MP-10 is far superior with his fixed chest and metallic paint job.

Got Spinout today...finally.

Aesthetically, he's awesome. He looks so good. I don't have any broken or missing pieces and his paint looks really good. But man, he is a floppy mess. That head/neck/upper back area is, ugh. Since nothing really pegs in, everything is just, loose.

I have to fix that. It needs some kind of better, actually functional peg system. The wheels need improvement too.

XOC, do the shoulder assemblies need to be disassembled to get that improved range of motion?

Although why does Shockwave cost about the same as the real version?

Yes. I took the backplate off, cut that piece of plastic that makes up part of the ball socket, and glued it in the ball socket where it belongs. But you might want to wait, because Omni(the designer not the company) plans to release shapeways parts like a new ball socket assembly that will fix some of the manufacturing flubs, like how they fucked that outward shoulder movement.

Thanks. I'll check it out and see if i want to mess with it or get Omni's parts.

I did pop out the pin that holds the "neck" onto the arm below it and spin it around. It seems to fit back further much better and lets the head look down better too. It may be an assembly issue where some are correct and some aren't.

Oh, i also removed some material from the inside, top of the back of the legs. The legs were getting hung up on the crotch back there if i tried to spin them out.

KO Prime was also in the $100 range. I guess they figure a $40 discount is enough to get people to buy them.

I broke down and bought Ironhide at Comic Con today. I have to toss Takara a bone every once in awhile.

I plan to do the same with the legs when I have time. I probably should turn the neck piece around too.

FYI, Omni-designer said not to turn the neck around. While that does improve the situation a bit, he said it wasn't misassembled but rather Omni-factory cut corners on the part from how it was designed, leading to more limited movement. Supposedly, his kit of shapeways parts is going to address that as well.

Just transformed Ironhide. I'm in love. Only took 32yrs to get a proper figure and they knocked it out of the park.

This is a very love-it-or-hate-it figure. His potbelly doesn't bother you? I just cannot unsee that. I'm not crazy about the head either, but the chest, hip flaps, and butt wheels are deal killers for me.

Still waiting on stupid voodoo to get their version sorted out.

I do recall reading that, but I tried it, and it's worked better in my experience.

Looking underneath of the bottom of the windshield (in bot mode), you can see what looks like something that was supposed to lock it in place. The taps are there, but there is nothing to receive them. Probably would've helped to keep the whole torso more solidly snapped together.
