preface...

Effects? Who the...

Yeah that's what I said too. I created the figure first and needed a Joe to go along with it later. Tunnel Rat is the resident E.O.D. (Explosive Ordinance Disposal) technician for G.I. Joe, but my character is neither Chinese nor a midget, so Tunnel Rat was out. Aron "Effects" Beck was a *sigh* Star Brigade character in 1994, so his use now is only due to his history as an E.O.D. technician.

Aron "Effects" Beck.
Grade: E-6
MOS: Explosive Ordinance Disposal

This custom was part of my "A.R.C.T.I.C." team, that I was working on before 9SFG(A). Effects is pretty much the first figure I've "finished" so far, mostly because it was an accidentally made figure! I was working on something else, and opened up the new Cash Destro and his armor immediately said "E.O.D.!" to me.. so I started this little side project. Soon I realized I should make his robot buddy as well.

This was the first figure that I painted from head to.. well, foot. I think it turned out alright overall. Painting is a lot tougher than I realized.. but practice makes perfect.

Figure breakdown is as follows:

PoC Destro (v2): Armor
PoC Beachhead: Head, Arm Device
RoC Arctic Shipwreck: Legs
RoC Flash: Helmet
PoC Skydive: Torso / Arms

Random knee pads from a Bravo Team figure, Crotch protector from PIT Commando's gear.. pouches etc from who knows where.

The robot is from RoC Ripcord (Reactive Armor) and a bunch of crap I found and glued together. Turned out okay for a robot that has a very short life expectancy :)

Please let me know what you think, any complaints or criticism help me with the next figure! Thanks for reading!

I like it! I would say he needs a holster so he doesn't have to put his sidearm down in the dirt to diffuse the IED. :D

Good stuff though - I always liked your A.R.C.T.I.C. team. :D

The figure is great, and that bot rules- totally puts him over the top.

Awesome all the way around. The figure looks badass and that bot is cool as hell

Badass is right. Fantastic work on him and his robot. :D

Agree on all.
Ya know. I think you would be good at molding and casting. i'm thinking you should give it a go and use that robot as your item to cast.............hint hint....

Awe shucks everybody :)

I can't remember the colors.. I'll have to check after I move and unpack my custom supplies. I think they're Model Masters paints.. Army Sand? Army/Marine Gulf something or another? I just grabbed all the Desert themed paints at the store and went to town lol.

The robot took the longest to come up with.. I never got a hold of the EOD robot that came with the Walmart Tripwire, so I made it from the base from a ROC Ripcord, a TOW assembly from the 21st HMMWV, and two parts from a mine-detector from a Bravo Team figure lol. It's not terribly accurate, and the arm doesn't move (sucks), but it displays okay for a static model.

This was the FIRST figure I worked on when I was getting back into customs, and I still think it turned out well, before this I had never painted full figures before, only did part swaps etc. So I was pretty afraid to do it.

I was actually thinking of an older custom I saw of yours that was an EOD specialist, but this one is kind of the same vein of thinking. Maybe it wasn't NSA's? But anyways, great job on this one.

Somehow I totally missed this thread, but I guess it popped up last week while I was busy with other stuff.

Oh.. sigh. Those were the days. Locked in my room with nothing but the acrid paint smells to keep me company.

WHY OH WHY did I go looking for women!

We're moving in the next 4 months, hopefully to renting a house, so I'm HOPING there is an area to do some custom work (Probably the garage again..).

You really should make your way around to customizing again, after you move and get settled in,of the course. I dig your work.

However, if you decide to get rid of your fodder and have Bbi pouches, holsters, helmets, goggles, etc..., hit me up :D
