Pretty fucking nice. Consider my interest peaked.
I was ready to drop up to $130 on this but this is just way out of my range. Really a shame. It's pretty much e bay minus them getting the fees. I'm not sure what may have risen cost wise but it is very hard for me to justify that price. *sigh*
I bought most of my BBI vehicles from Target. These weren't on clearance when I picked them up.
Super Humvee - $15
LAV - $20
Little Bird - $20 (TRU)
Abrams - $25
Apache - $30
Blackhawk - $30
F-16 - $70 (Target online shipped)
$170 is out of my price range for a toy.
was that a typo?...or did they really jack the price up by a hundred and fourty dollars for the blackhawk?!
does anyone visit other forums that are discussing this topic?...whats the general consensus there?
I'll be curious to see how many they actually sell at this price. I would imagine a few people will still bite.
Maybe someone should draft a well-phrased letter explaining to BBI that companies like Chap Mei, PTE, Hasbro(though less so) seem to be able to produce and sell large quantities of these larger and desired vehicles/playsets, and ask why it is that they can't seem to get in the game for reasonable prices again? I can't imagine there's a good deal more plastic in say, 2 Skystrikers than there is in one Black Hawk.. so why the huge price difference?
Don't say "Because of the detail" because if this was something being scratch built, that would make sense. But if they have the molds and simply tweaked them for a new version, the same detail is there that there was in the first place, and nothing much else has changed.
I understand inflation and a scaled economy.. but still don't see a reason this should have to go for over 100 + shipping.
It'd be nice to see a B&M release, too. Taking into account how many people are in the military and all those kids who were too young a couple years ago, now showing interest in what mommy or daddy does, would probably like to have a big helicopter to play with. Considering these started as -toys- in the first place, why are they now being sold ONLY as collectible pieces? The market's there, I can step into a local TRU or Target on any given day and see kids looking at all the Chap Mei military crap.. giving them(and us) something better would be far more preferable.
Sound's like you've already got a good template for that letter.
yup, this group will...
Man, why you gotta be like that?
Mocking the intellectually disabled ain't cool.
Anyone go that oversized Bbi Falcon and a Black Hawk? I'd like to see them side-by-side.

First I'll start off by saying that $180 is too much for this. I'll get one but it is by no means a bargain. With that said, your comparison to the skystriker really isn't a valid point. The skystriker is much smaller, with lower quality plastic. The bbi birds are painted and weathered too. That may not sound like much, but the paint apps don't come cheap. Then you have the tampo applied markings. Add to it that the Skystriker is be produced in LARGE numbers, this blackhawk...not even close in total #'s produced.
Your point is? I was comparing size and amount of plastic used vs cost. We all know that Hasbro overcharges for what they give us anyway. For 2 Skystrikers I could have one -really- nice helo. I shouldn't have to pay this much for it.
Especially when it's already been out before by the same company just in a different configuration. Of course they think this configuration is worth $120 MORE
First off I apologize for sounding like a complete retard but ... BBI made the blackhawk correct? the TRU version is a cheap knock off correct? but a few months back i wanted a blackhawk and the ebay prices were sky rocketing from the 180-200's .. is this just an ebay inflation ? Reading a few posts back you guys are saying they were 60 at one point? Jeeez did I miss out ! FUCK!
I never saw them for $30.. but lots of people did apparently.
I think the general MSRP was in the $50-$60 range.
The TRU one is total shit compared to the BBI one, no comparison at all.
eBay prices for the normal Blackhawk seem to be hovering below $100 now from what I've been seeing, so the new price seems pretty ridiculous. I'd be interested to see what-all new toolings were done etc to make it worth the premium. It just seems like the F-16 gets you more 'bang' for the buck, even though they are about the same size.
Just excuse the mess. And dust. There's a Shock Trooper next to the Falcon for scale.
All three combined were cheaper than the cost of a MH-60, lol. Oh wait. That's not funny.
Hey....maybe they're trying to rack in enough money to build you guys an A-10.
I would in no way be surprised if they came out with one in 2012. BBI is the only company with the balls and backbone to do it.
$200 likely.
