Type 92 - A WIP

After KT posted that link to the pic of a 92 with a bigger turret, I decided to see if the PTE T-98 turret would fit. I need to do some sanding and filing and cutting to fit the retaining ring. But overall, the proportions are similar to the pic:

It doesn't have quite as angled a front on the turret as the real deal, and I imagine I'll cut the barrel down to just past those notches, probably put the antenna base where that boxy missile rack thing is.

I also plan to work on the interior if I start feeling froggy.

I should note there is NO head room for standing modern figures in this thing.

Yeah, I know there's no head room.. but I'd like to get at least some seats in the front, and I was considering leaving the body halves unscrewed for access. Not sure if I'm going to paint it.. aside from the few things I've painted I prefer to make it look like my cobra forces acquired their means of conveyance through theft and/or purchasing from other countries, slap a sigil on it, and go from there.

They just did too lousy of a job on the PLA camo for me to sit still with it.

I can't tell if I'm going OD or black yet. I do have my periscope lenses figured out, though.

That looks great. I agree with KT about accuracy - these are toys after all, we don't have to be all "finescale".

Bustle racks removed, antenna relocated to rear center of the turret, a few other odds and ends moved around. Need to find some putty to fill the holes left behind, still gotta shave the gear teeth down and make minor adjustments to the top side of the troop compartment so the turret will move freely.

After my daughter goes back to school wednesday, I can do some more work on this. As for the tank body.. haven't decided just yet. Suggestions?

I have the spare turret off the 92, but I haven't decided if I want to do something with it or not, yet.

It's a common, certainly not universal, PLA thing. I'm almost convinced they're parade tires, much like WWII German kill bands, and that that stuff just washes off like WWII winter white wash camo did.

Damn, sorry dude. I've been sick and it slipped my mind. If you wanna PM me your addy, I can send it out probably this weekend. I don't really want or need anything for it, so consider it a deposit for something in the future. lol.

Just keep in mind I kept the retaining ring so you'd have to fashion your own or something.
