Bunch I've been kicking around (some of which I've talked to Dave about already - just posting them here to see if anyone else is interested):
  • Paul Bettany likeness
  • Brooke Langton likeness (no one will care about this but me)
  • Kate Beckinsale likeness
  • Michael Biehn likeness
  • Bill Paxton likeness
  • Jack Hawksmoor's feet
  • Glaive (from Krull)
  • Slayers (from Krull)

Paul Bettany needs to have a smirk or sly grin, and no Priest likeness allowed. Young Michael Biehn? Fuck, yes.

They can do Charlie when he publicly admits he's the world's biggest douche bag and then proceeds to castrate himself with a plastic knife from McDonald's.

In related news, I got my SDS castings yesterday. There's quite a bit of cleanup involved, and back-filling some thin-walled bits, but the parts look good and are bubble-free. Thanks Slayer!

Prices are still decent. If you want a chance at $50 Slayer store credit click the pic. Rumor has it the offer won't be open much longer.

Prices are not out of hand by any means considering they are not just cast items. Just thought I remembered things a bit less before.

Hmm, I see Tollbooth and Recoil... Am I missing any Joes?

I'm actually waiting on the big sale order from July still. I got a shipping notification email along with another order a few weeks ago, and the small order arrived, but not the big-big order yet... :(

Dave is pretty back-logged right now. I think he lost the guy that was helping him cast. Expect big orders to take a lot more time than smaller ones.

Yeah, I already emailed him a non-frantic email over a week ago. And I normally understand that large shipments take a long time and all that. Which is why I've not had any issue since July. But I shouldn't have gotten a shipping notification that the order had been mailed if it hadn't been mailed. The fact that I received the $30 order and not the $130 order, both "shipped" at the same time, is what has me slightly worried 2 weeks after the fact.

I just emailed to ask if they had the tracking number to check, or if the shipping notice came prematurely or what. No answer. I'm sure it'll arrive sooner or later. Just weird is all.

I just checked, Fogger. I sent the e-mail to that very address. I'll bug him again when I'm back from out of town. Maybe it will have been delivered while I was gone.

Slayer will be going back to selling what they have in stock instead of making the casts as orders come in. This should help out a lot with wait time on orders and is expected to go live this Wednesday.

Shit, means I need to put in an order before I hear back from my big order, then.

That's not good news, unless they plan on keeping the stock updated. I know the number one complaint with Alyosha's cart (besides wait time?) has been that nothing is never in stock. With the PO, made-to-order system, my cart has almost always been everything I wanted. Sure, it takes time to arrive, but at least I get everything at once.

Maybe this will help out the impatient fuckers, but I guess you can't please everyone. There seems to be more of them than me.

I think they're planning on taking stuff off the site when it's not in stock, to avoid the "not in stock" situation. Kind of a rotating inventory as things are available.

Well it's probably easier for them. I get that they're trying out different things to appease the complaints and to speed things up and make them easier for themselves. But I thought the PO system was great. It's kinda like BBTS's POL in the sense that it's better for buyers spending more and who are willing to wait. It also saves on shipping. I just hope they produce enough of hot items.

I see where you're coming from, Rex. It's bitter-sweet either way the system is set up. Either you make customers happy by getting their order to them quickly with a limited inventory and catalog, or you allow them to get everything they want with a longer wait time.

I know one of the reasons they moved away from the "In Stock" system is b/c it's hard to know which sculpts are going to be popular and how much you need to make each individual cast. I think they also wanted to give customers more choices out of their catalog, as they weren't able to keep casts on hand of every sculpt. It seems that customers aren't happy with the wait times and I imagine Dave is trying to help reduce his own workload along with reducing the amount of complaints tied to customer wait times.

In either case, I hope Slayer finds a good balance and is able to operate without as much stress as I know they've dealt with this past year.

Yeah, I figured that was the case. Just irritated that the whiners sort of got under their skin and won in this case. I at least hope they still list items that aren't in-stock (but listed as our of stock while they are), because otherwise it's hard to keep track of items they have coming back in the future.

There were several ARAH heads they just added, but it looks like the entire store is down, so I won't be ordering them in the meantime after all. :(

Well if they are going to the "in stock" system it will not stop people bitching I bet. It seems that there is no winning with "certain" communities. I liked the pre order system so that there was a ton of stuff to choose from. Only complaint I have is that on occasion there are items with no picture. Not a big issue.

I saw Recoil, and I thought there were at least 2-3 more. Was that Hardtop? I thought it was Tollbooth, but I only got a quick look.

lol... It was Tollbooth. I have no idea why I typed Hardtop. They also had Headman, but I'm not sure if I'm going to make him or not. I'd need the SDCC ROC Destro or the new MU Xavier figure to make him.

Yeah, the only way they could make everyone happy is to stock every item in their inventory, and have a lot on hand of each sculpt. Obviously, that's not feasible as they would lose so much money, it's not even funny. Even then, I'm sure people would still find something to complain about.

Yea, I could understand if it took a year to get something but considering they make it according to orders is perfect. It allows them to get everything people want in their hands. Now I would imagine they could see what the better sellers are and make accordingly but that will always change. People have different projects in mind as compared to what they may have the first time. The order I placed yesterday was a few different heads for future projects. Odds are, next order would be completely different.

You mean Joe fans. They're the whiniest, cheapest bunch out there. I guess it has to do with the fact that a single figure is $5-10, versus some other toy lines.

I really am sad to see the PO system go, but I guess they're doing what works best for them and they're testing it out. Who knows, it may work out really well so long as the proper stuff stays in stock and they do adjust based off what demand seems to be. If something keeps selling out, it'd make sense.

Yeah, people will always complain. Especially in the nerd community. Having everything in stock would never work, you're right. And I can't imagine that all items will sell very well. But I think it may suck for those wanting the few niche items that don't sell really well. But again, I hope it works out well and Slayer gets more business than less.

Really, the only wait problem I've had is since the shipping notification was sent for an item that apparently wasn't. I am fine with waiting, there's plenty of stuff to do in the meantime and it gives me a break from customizing. It's been 3 months since I've had my work desk out, and it's kinda nice to have a break. I am starting to want to get back to it though, as I have about 10 customs that need finishing or starting, and Slayer parts are a key part of nearly every custom I attempt now.
