While the new Scarlett figure is arguably the best version yet, the face is a bit of a letdown. It's an attractive headsculpt and the factory paint apps don't do it justice.
I thought I'd remedy it so I broke out my paints and 5/0 brush last night. While I was at it, I dirtied up her outfit with a wash and some drybrushed dirt effects. Here's the result.

Comparison shot (I got 2 of her loose on eBay).

Close-up (she's hawt).

Obligatory posed shots.

I still need to refine the face paint, but I feel I've maximized the potential of her sculpt.
I just need to give her some gear and she's going in my display cabinet.

Hope you like her.

That's great Fled! 100% improvement on the eyes. I really like it. Have to do the same when I get mine in.

Oh my! That is sooo well done... - does anyone know why Hasbro didn't give her a set of the articulated wrist hands???

my guess is because her arms are so slender it didn't look right...but that is only a guess...

Nicely done! What size brushes do you use? I definitely don't have one that would allow me to get the white dot that small on this scale.

He said a 5/0.

Well, it looks great, though she is a bit of a melon head. I knew the sculpt was good and would look great in the hands of someone wasn't a Chinese wage laborer with 20 seconds to paint each head.

That looks fantastic Fled! Just shows a little make up can turn any butta face into a catch. :D Seriously though, that is excellent detailing. It seriously looks like a completely different head.

Thanks guys!

Did a little more work last night.
I swapped out her hands and forearms with Duke's so she could have the articulated wrists. I made the elbow pads from epoxy putty.

The rifle is a placeholder until I can find one whose mags match the molded ones of her vest.
I'm thinking of swapping the hands with those from an OurWar figure. They also have the wrist articulation but are smaller (and more feminine). :p

25th Beachhead's or Firefly's M76. An Uzi or Thompson would work, too.

I'd go with that. I need to pick up one of their wooden stock ones. Maybe when W.6 hits..

I just received a little parcel from them yesterday. Looks like I'll need to go Marauder shopping again.

EDIT: Their 9mm M4 "Tango" or "Urban" might do the trick.

Some of those StarWars CloneWars Troopers have pretty slender articulated wrists, they even have some w/ pretty nice separated trigger fingers...??? Just a suggestion - the swollen carpal tunnel effect bothers me too much - would rather see better non-articulated pieces... I may have a usable pair I could send U'r way 4 a suitable trade item???

I'll be using a set of OurWar hands instead. Thanks for the offer though. :)

As for her weapon, I've gone and ordered a few 9mm M4s and UMPs from Marauder.

I like everything except the hands. I know we're all becoming spoiled with the articulated hands, but they may just look a little to large for me.

I would...but I think that's what's stuck up your ass making you act this way.

Now, now, children, behave.
Or do you want me to get my big leather belt? :D

Anyway... the man hands were bothering me, so one of my OurWar figs gave up his girly hands.
I also made a very simple sling out of some black ribbon coated with watered-down PVA glue.

Also, thanks for all the feedback. I value everyone's input - it's how I improve, after all. :)

Pretty stellar work on the eyes and face. I plan to repaint my Scarlett when I get back home myself. I need to look into a 5/0, all I have is a 3/0 brush, and I think I have enough control to get that level of detail.

The dirt wash on the torso may be a little heavy, but it helps to bring out the detail. The factory version is definitely too clean, though. That figure really is a great sculpt, but they never seem to be able to get the details right on the faces when they paint female figures.

I need to break out the Microman hands and see how they do on those Duke arms.
