So this one is right up Eddie's alley.
A bit of background is necessary. Quite a number of years back I became familiarized with perhaps the most homoerotic video ever to crop out of the late '70s, The Skatt Brosthers' Life at the Outpost. Label mates of the mostly homosexual Village People the Bros. were touted as the straight, Canadian version of the VP.
Yeah, right.
Anyhoo, the video was full of male models prancing around in what had to be a parody of the hypermasculine urban cowboy fad that was going on in the late '70s-early '80s. Tight jeans, hairy chests and pornstaches abound.
Well, almost immediately it occured to me that a joke custom figure HAD to be made. My initial thought was a LBC, painless-paintless custom would be the way to go. The o-ring Corps! line was just what I needed. Bare, barrel chests and arms? Check! Head with cowboy hat AND pornstache? Check! Denim-clad legs and waist piece? CHECK!
Alas the parts never materialized, so to the back of my addled mind the idea went.
Not terribly long ago I purchased Absorbing Man. Initially I was dissapoint, as I usually am with MU figures, but then an old idea returned to me.
Ridiculous physique? Check. Wild Bill feet and hat in the parts bags? Check? Could it be done?
You tell me? I present for your perusal, for lack of a better name, The Cockcaine Cowboy
It was really only a matter of paint work and some light peg mods. I'm surprised I managed the 'stache, and I wish I could have sculpted him a terrible '70s hair cut, but one does what one can. Finished him off with a stylish bandana.
