Can't even tell it was broken! The TS is very, very smooth. Matches the original pattern very accurately.

Glad to know someone else thinks it replicates the real deal accurately :D!

You gonna camo the pants, too?

Yup. I've started the camo on the pants since the last pics were posted. So frickin' tedious! I'm sure all the painting will be worth the time and eye strain after it's all said and done, but I'm not going to be in any hurry to do Tiger Stripe camo again anytime soon.

Falcon is almost finished. I just have to put some ammo drum pouches on the web gear and get that Marauder AA-12, once it comes out. I also decided to use the Slayer Falcon head-sculpt instead of the Marauder Falcon sculpt:

Thanks, MW! I'm happy with the figure turned out. Once I get the last few things added, I'll take some finished pics.

CS- I've got the Slayer head you've used- consider this design stolen! I've got a Cobra trooper base that I was wondering what to do with- thanks for the inspiration!

I like that Slayer sculpt too. It's what I used on mine, but my Falcon needs an update as I'm not too stoked on the body anymore.

That looks awesome. I can't believe you painted all that tedious camo. It turned out great.

Thanks, MR! I've had that head-sculpt for the better part of 2 years now and finally put it to use. Krexx did an awesome job on it.

Here's my updated Flint. I decided to take the suggestions from a few people and update my Flint with Tiger Stripe camo. I also decided to make a few other changes as well. He's mostly finished, but I have to wait on the Green Stuff to cure so that the head-sculpt will fit properly and at the right height on the torso.

Personally, I think the changes I made are improvements and he may be my favorite custom that I've personally made.

My previous Flint:

Can anyone guess which head-sculpt I'm using for Flint?

Sorry Cloud! :D

Also, considering this one stolen too… Already have most of it painted up, except for the legs.

I think you need to send the other staff members some of your customs.. as .. initiation.

I tell you what, I'll send you my Resolute Gung Ho custom:

Major Blood can have my custom Tunnel Rat:

Ewok can have Monkeywrench:

Sorry Cloud! :D

Haha... I knew I couldn't be the only one thinking Falcon was Flint. I mean, they even painted his black like Flint's instead of brown like Falcon's.

Yeah, as soon as I saw the face I thought the same thing. He doesn't have Falcon's younger features, either.

He looks a lot like a grizzled CWO.

more great work! You know you have an issue... such good work and no reason to improve (like you really need to... NOT). So I will solve your problem. Send me your older work and you can redo it.

No? Was worth trying. Great work, keep it up.

I've been working on Stalker and Beachhead. I'm not sure if I like the Olive Drab shirt and mask for Beachhead. I'm thinking of painting it Green Drab like Stalker's shirt. What do you guys think?

Also, I think I'll add the POC BH 'nades to the upper left part of my updated BH's vest, and possibly adding his folded Airborne beret on his left shoulder, like the OG BH.

Anyway, here's how they look so far:

What MW said...I think you should leave BHs colors alone, it looks good IMO...

You getting that camo done a lot quicker nowadays?

Thanks, fellas!

I think I will leave BH's shirt and mask Olive Drab. I did add the folded red beret on the left shoulder of his vest.

I think I'm able to paint camo a little quicker, but it's still a tedious process. What sucked with painting BH's camo is that I used a new jar of Dark Green and it turned out to be a lot lighter than the previous jar of Dark Green that I had been using for my Woodland and Tiger Stripe camo. I'm not sure how there could be such a vast difference between 2 jars of the exact same brand and color of paint, but it was extremely noticeable. So, I had to darken it by adding black until it was a close approximation to the Dark Green from the first jar. After that, I had to repaint all of the green parts in the camo. Looked much better afterwards though.

I quit shaking my paints long ago, b/c the Testors Jars don't always get the best seal between the jar and the lid and it'll get between the 2, dry up and make it a pain to open. So, Testors just did a piss poor job of being consistent with the shade of green the Dark Green is suppose to be.

i paint for a living, so in the beginning, i naturally shook the jars, boy, was that a big mistake. some paints dried up, and the seal gets stuck and peels off the lid. now i just take a match stick or something in that nature, and carve the bottom like a flat headed screw driver and just stir it.

what is bh vest from?

aside from shaking, maybe stir it up...it clumps at the bottom sometimes and it could affect the color im sure

this is a natural occurance for paint, all the pigmint settles to the bottom, that is all the true colors there, so stirring is the best way for these paints. if they had metal lids like a gallon, then i would say shake em. in my line of work, stirring sucks and takes forever. the best way to do it is shake it, but kind of hard to do when it's a full gallon, so i use a drill and a paddle mixer drill bit. it cuts the time down and gets everything even.

That's exactly what was happening with my paints too. Stirring is definitely the best way to go with the little jar of paints.

Beachhead's vest is the ROC Sgt. Stone vest with various pouches added to it and some modding of the itself. I had to shorten it by cutting the bottom off all the way around so that his belt would at least show. Then, I had to cut out sections from underneath the arm holes so that the vest would fit more snug. I went on and and thinned the area on each side of the cut where I removed the section of the vest underneath the right arm hole. I thinned each side of the cut enough to allow the pouch to sit in the vest a little bit and not just on top, and then I glued the pouch in place in order to hide the newly made seam and hold the vest together on the right side. For the left side, I did the exact same thing, except that I dremeled a hole in the front half of the vest and used a pouch that had a peg, so that it allows me to be able to remove the vest without having to peal one of the pouches from the vest and glue.

I wasn't sure how it was going to work out when I first started, but it worked out better than I had imagined, as I've removed the vest several times without the parts that I glued together coming apart and the peg and peg-hole function like I had hoped.

Using that crappy Stone vest was an idea I had earlier this week when I was digging out my parts... Glad to see it actually works! It's a great base vest for gluing gear to, but awful by itself.

As usual, the paint apps look fantastic. I'm going to wait until we get that Retaliation Beachhead, so I don't waste a Stalker, which can be used for an O13 update.

You inspired me to try my hand at painting more realistic camo. I have about 5 "spare parts" figures I'm making into original characters, and I already painted one up today as a full repaint. I think I'll play around with some other patterns so that when I get around to a real figure, I can try to make it look as good as yours.
