Flint (Rd. 2) by Cloud Strife

It was suggested that I give Flint Tiger Stripe camo, similar to what the Sideshow Flint had. So, I thought it was a good and idea and did just that. While I was at it, I thought I would change a few other things as well.

My 1st custom Flint for comparison:

Recipe:

Head - Lt. Falcon
Torso - 25th Viper
Upper Arms - Lt. Stone
Lower Arms - 25th Flint
Hands - Resolute Flint
Legs - 30th Stalker
Web Gear - HOH Flint
Shotgun - Marauder Gun Runner

That's it. Those legs get used in the Retaliation line I'm hoarding them.

Other than not agreeing with the hands you chose I really dig him.

Yeah, they're the best legs, IMO. I hope they do get reused in the Retaliation line, but I'm not holding my breath.

Yeah, the hands lack the articulation of the newer ones, but I chose them for aesthetic purposes... even though they suck for posing with weapons.

The Tiger Stripe looks awesome. Seriously, it's like when Marine Deadpool paints woodland camo... it just makes you stop and stare. I really like it.

The head was a good choice, but why not just use it for Falcon. The Resolute Flint head looked great.

that Flint is HAWT!!!....the Falcon head works VERY well for him...

and i really like how you gave him different shotty shells...the details on them look great...

really getting the hang of the camo huh?

and add, that group shot truely makes what Hasbro has done look like dirty old hobo a$$

I read every one of Jin Satome's tutorials multiple times before I began customizing. He explains how to get the skin tone you're going for. His tutorials are really helpful.

The most difficult part is the eyes, but once you've attempted to paint them a few times, you start to figure out what works for you. A 5/0, at least, is necessary though.

I bet you could get the hang of it, if you gave it a try man!

well, i'm a custom painter by trade, and i painted everything on joes, i just never tempted the heads or skin, and the eyes are so damn tiney that i lose interest, and that damn black thin line. one day i will try it.

I don't usually paint the line itself. I fill the eye with black and then apply the white from below until it give the impression of a thin black line. Then, I put the black dot in the middle of the pupil/iris and touch up with skin tone around the eye afterwards.

Mandingo Rex has an excellent illustration showing each step. I'm not sure if he still has it though.

dam man he looks bad ass now!!!!! i love how you have the same legs for your team as they look good with every fig you have done with them. now why couldn't hasblow of used those legs for joe 2 molds instead of ROC parts or those jungle duke legs.

Yeah, those particular legs are w/out a doubt the best in the line. The 2 things that bug me about them is that there isn't a strap at the top of the drop-leg holster, and then there aren't any straps holding his boot/ankle knife on. Other than those 2 things, 2dtoys did an amazing job sculpting them.

I think the pants/legs are great but I really like the Law version better - unbloused - I'm just not crazy about the boot knife. I wish they had just put the knife on the left leg.

I guess I'll post in here too, although the same as Eddie, I already posted all I need to say in the WIP thread. Love that head for Flint. It suits him more than Falcon.

Now swap out Law's head and redo Hawk now!
