I am considering selling my bbi F/A-18 Hornetthat I have given a custom paint job. The only Markings on it are the Marine Corp lable under vertical stabalizer and false canopy on underside. I will be willing to paint the Marine Corp Squadron markings of your choice. It also has Custom Aim_9 Sidewiders and a AN/AAS-38 FLIR Pod. I am posting this to see how many would be interested in this before I actually post it for sale.If you are interested PM me or post and tell me what you would be willing to pay.IMG_2380.JPGIMG_2381.JPGIMG_2382.JPG

Looks amazing, but you will not be happy with replies from us as far as price goes. Practically everyone here was around when we were able to snatch those birds at clearance prices from Target or proper retail from a small shop in Florida. You should build an eBay auction in order to see what the last few bbi birds sold for and then adjust for the paint work.

How cheap were they? I only saw F-16s in Target back then. I think the price was hovering around $65-80ish?

I don’t remember ever seeing either of the jets at Target, just at TRU at a regular price of $80. I got my helos there on clearance as I recall. A few of us got jets for about $100 a pop from a guy in FL, long after they were gone from stores.

Yeah I only saw ground stuff at my Target, and only picked them up because they were super cheap.. I had zero interest in 1:18 beyond GI JOE at the time.. I was such a fool!

Never did see the planes at retail.. the only ones my local TRU had were the 21st Century ones.. and even then I feel like they were all that pointy plane no one liked.

Wish I'd kept my F-18 I got from Florida.. but I didnt :( Never even opened it..

I currently have 3 hornets and one falcon from a combination of eBay purchases and face-to-face bargaining. Just recently, the prices for eBay jets are way out of range. I just didn’t think it would get to the point where I would ever feel priced out of the hobby.

Scarcity drives cost. I couldn't imagine someone letting one of these go for anywhere near what they paid at this point. You'd never get one back for even double the cost now.

I clearly remember seeing the Falcon, Blackhawk and Apache at Target as the clearances started, but was saving for a house at the time and had no place to put the things. Thankfully I was able to own one of each for retail or cheaper at some point during my big collecting years.
